No Matter What College You Go To, These 10 Types Of Guys Are On Your Campus

After surviving one and a half semesters of college at Syracuse University, I have seen just about every kind of man that resides on this campus. I've also visited many of my friends at their respective campuses and have come to a realization that every college man has some similar tendencies. If you're a senior in high school wondering what college guys are really like, you've come to the right spot. Here's the good, the bad, and the ugly about every college guy you'll run into.

1. The Frat Star, Chad, Brad, etc.

Imagine this: you're standing outside of Theta Apple Pie and someone in a button-down, khakis, and Sperrys approaches you to ask for your Snapchat. Sounds familiar? It probably is. Even if you don't go to a school where Greek life is big, frat stars present themselves as the cocky, rude, built dudes that do about 80 reps of push-ups before going to their one class a day.

They also will be spotted wearing their letters whenever possible. The minute they're initiated, all you'll see on their Instagram is their letters; they might as well get it tattooed on their face. They do things that only they think is cool, like smoking cigarettes and skipping every single class possible.

You'll also be able to spot them by the fact they have a 2.3 GPA. Beware, girls, they are the evilest of men. However, there are some redeemable frat boys that I have to give credit to. You are my saviors.

2. The Definition Of A Man-Whore

This type of man doesn't even need to be in a frat to have slept with half of the freshman class. He somehow has managed to get in your dm's, your roommate's dm's, your best friend's dm's, and your mom's dm's. He doesn't even have to be that cute, but he just has a vibe that makes every girl swoon.

We have all been victims, and sure enough, you might be too. He knows just what to say, and if you see him at the bar, there's about a 3000% chance you will be leaving with him. Hey, don't get mad at me, I don't make the rules.

3. The Cute And Smart Guy In Your Hardest Class

He's the one you run to for extra tutoring and questions about the homework. Simply said, he's the geek you wish you knew in high school. These men are a real hidden gem because just everything about them is dreamy. It is so difficult to find a guy with a 3.5 GPA and super cute dimples! Absolutely impossible. About 30 girls in your lecture have a crush on him. Heck, even your teacher has a soft spot for him.

4. The Guy Best Friend

The true gem of college. There are some very nice guys out there who were simply made to be a girl's best friend. Without them, we would go absolutely nuts. Who else would we tell about our Chad problems? Some may say they were lost to the friend zone, but I think having a tight-knit platonic bond with someone is so much more important than a relationship. He's the one you get breakfast hungover with, ask advice about other guys with, and cry about your Stats class. He's simply irreplaceable.

5. Your Awkward Next Door Neighbor

This doesn't even need an explanation. Everyone has that one awkward next door neighbor that does not know how to interact with females. Sure, you can try to teach them, but you quite literally will not get far at all. You're better off letting him learn on his own. For the most part, he's a nice person and is probably friends with someone on your floor, but you pray you don't run into him to save yourself from the awkwardness of greeting him. The worst is running into him after a shower. Oh god.

6. The Momma's Boy

These are the golden retrievers of college guys. They are sweet men who call their mom's every day to check up on them, and usually always smell amazing. They're probably from the South because no man from New York City could treat you with that much respect. Honestly, they must be sent from the heavens above because there is no way a guy like this walks the Earth without being an angel. I bet five dollars they know how to make cookies.

7. The Gym Freak

You have seen these devils walk around campus. They're probably wearing gym shorts in -4-degree weather just to flex on you. They're also sporting a muscle tank around their dorm. These guys practically live in your school's gym, and if they're not there, they're probably snorting protein powder out of their nostrils. There's nothing wrong with going to the gym once a day to get a built body, but do we really need a snap story update with the captions "Grind time," "Don't sleep on me," and "Bulk szn" every time? There's about a 500% chance they're student-athletes.

8. The "My Dad's A Lawyer" Guy

This could go along with the frat star, but I think it deserves its own category. Being rich at a school like Syracuse isn't unheard of, but these men will take any and all opportunities to mention that their dad's a lawyer. Need a summer internship? "My dad's a lawyer." Failed a test? "My dad's a lawyer." Pledging into a frat? "My dad's a lawyer." The possibilities are endless.

9. The Husband

I have to give a round of applause to these guys because being a good man in today's society is literally such a gem. They know how to cook, they take care of themselves, and they're the kind of guys you want to take home to your family. We're all searching for this guy, let's be honest. If you meet this person, you better snatch him up because he's a campus favorite. These guys just remind you that there are still good people out there.

10. The One In A Committed Relationship

These boys make incredible best friends, but besides all that, they remind you that love still does exist. They don't entertain their exes, they don't cheat on their girlfriends, and they always talk about their girl as if she's an angel. Whether it's a long distance relationship or a college relationship, he's everyone's dream boyfriend. I have to give credit to all the boys in a long distance relationship, I have a special place in my heart for you all.

Not every guy you meet in college will be a bad person, but the majority of the time, they are pretty questionable. However, I've met some amazing people and definitely some lifelong friends. Just be careful, girls, the cutest guys are always secret devils.

I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

"A Christmas Story" is the star on top of the tree.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

One staple of the Christmas season is sitting around the television watching a Christmas movie with family and friends. But of the seemingly hundreds of movies, which one is the star on the tree? Some share stories of Santa to children ("Santa Claus Is Coming to Town"), others want to spread the Christmas joy to adults ("It's a Wonderful Life"), and a select few are made to get laughs ("Elf"). All good movies, but merely ornaments on the Christmas tree of the best movies. What tops the tree is a movie that bridges the gap between these three movies, and makes it a great watch for anyone who chooses to watch it. Enter the timeless Christmas classic, "A Christmas Story." Created in 1983, this movie holds the tradition of capturing both young and old eyes for 24 straight hours on its Christmas Day marathon. It gets the most coverage out of all holiday movies, but the sheer amount of times it's on television does not make it the greatest. Why is it,
then? A Christmas Story does not try to tell the tale of a Christmas miracle or use Christmas magic to move the story. What it does do though is tell the real story of Christmas. It is relatable and brings out the unmatched excitement of children on Christmas in everyone who watches. Every one becomes a child again when they watch "A Christmas Story."

It's the most wonderful time of the year! Christmas is one of my personal favorite holidays because of the Christmas traditions my family upholds generation after generation. After talking to a few of my friends at college, I realized that a lot of them don't really have "Christmas traditions" in their family, and I want to help change that. Here's a list of Christmas traditions that my family does, and anyone can incorporate into their family as well!

It’s here; that time of year when college students turn into preschoolers again. We cry for our mothers, eat everything in sight, and whine when we don’t get our way. It’s finals, the dreaded time of the semester when we all realize we should have been paying attention in class instead of literally doing anything else but that. Everyone has to take them, and yes, unfortunately, they are inevitable. But just because they are here and inevitable does not mean they’re peaches and cream and full of rainbows. Surviving them is a must, and the following five phases are a reality for all majors from business to art, nursing to history.
