2016 is finally coming to a close, and I think we can all agree it's been an interesting one, definitely one for the books. This year we witnessed one of the most bizarre political elections to ever take place. We mourned the death of several well-known icons such as Prince, Alan Rickman and Carrie Fisher, also known as Princess Leia from her role in Star Wars.

However, this is a positive article meant to inspire lots of good things to come our way for the new year of 2017. After all, not all of 2016 was terrible, there were some pretty amazing things that occurred within this strange year.

1. The Chicago Cubs won the world series, breaking their curse.

2. Leonardo DiCaprio finally won his first Oscar.

3. A new Disney princess, Moana, was introduced.

4. Sea World agreed to stop breeding captive killer whales.

5. Harriet Tubman is going to replace Andrew Jackson on the $20 bill.

6. The Gilmore Girls returned for a revival series.

7. NASA Juno mission reached the orbit of Jupiter.

8. U.S. Women pull out the biggest win in the 2016 Rio Olympics.

9. Giant Pandas, Amur Tigers, Indian Rhinoceros and many other animals were taken off of the endangered list.

10. Unemployment reaches lowest level since the recession.
