There are so many great things about fall, sweater weather, the return of Starbucks' Pumpkin Spice Latte, and of course, Football. With all these amazing things, it's hard to pick favorites, but with this list I tried, so I present to you, the 10 best things about fall in the Midwest.
1. Pumpkin Spice Everything
With the return of Starbucks' famous Pumpkin Spice Latte, comes the return of anything and everything pumpkin spiced flavored. From cookies to cakes to candy, and everything in between, it really is pumpkin spice heaven.
2. Bonfires
A warm fire on a cold autumn night, making smores, ghost stories, and everything else that comes along with having a good bonfire. Fires are such a great part of fall, they help create memories with family and friends that you can remember for years to come
3. Football.
To quote a friend, football is: "possibly the best sport ever designed". The buzz in the air at a game, the thrill of a win, the excitement of picking a fantasy team. Every part of fall football is just great, and an essential part of an amazing fall in the Midwest. Not to mention that Packers fans are some of the most loyal fans in football!
4. Scenery Changing
All the colors that fall is famous for, the reds, yellows, and oranges of the leaves changing right before your eyes. It's all just so beautiful and breathtaking. I can't even try to put its beauty into words.
5. Sweater Weather
The crisp fall air makes it the perfect temperature for sweaters. Not too hot, not too cold, just perfect. There is nothing else to describe it.
6. Fall Holidays
Halloween and Thanksgiving are two of the best holidays in the year. All the candy and games of Halloween, and the joy of having off school for Thanksgiving break and being able to see family. So much joy and fun packed into two holidays so close together.
7. 13 Nights of Halloween on ABC Family
13 Nights of Halloween is probably the highlight of my Halloween season, all the spooky scary movies and Halloween episodes of our favorite shows. This years' lineup looks amazing, it includes classics like Hocus Pocus, The Nightmare Before Christmas, and so many more. It also includes some more recent movies, like Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Parts 1 and 2, and the Hunger Games. So no matter what style of movie you like, the chances are that there will be one for you in those amazing 13 days.
8. Wearing UGGs
One of the best parts of fall in my opinion is wearing UGGs. Tall, short, with buttons or bows, they're all just so comfortable and warm. It doesn't matter if you have an off-brand of the brand name, they're the most comfortable shoes I own and I wish I could wear them all year.
9. Food, food, and FOOD
Pie, turkey, candy, and everything in between, the fall foods are one of the best parts of this season. You can make any kind of food just about any time of year, but there are some foods that are just perfect for fall. One of my favorite things to do is to curl up by the fire with a book and a slice of pumpkin pie and I will be set for hours. It's perfection.
10. Day-Light Savings time
While earlier in the year we complain about having to wake up an hour earlier, this time of year we get to sleep in an extra hour. To me, this is one of the best parts of the fall and deserved a spot on this list because it means I get to sleep longer, and anyone who knows me knows I love my sleep.
There are so many great things about fall, it was so hard to pick just 10 things to put on this list. But decisions had to be made. What are your favorite parts of fall? Let everybody know in the comments below!
