10 Christmas Gifts Independent Women Secretly Want This Year

"Independent Woman - A confident self-motivated woman who takes responsibility for her actions and never blames the rest of the world for her mistakes or her downfalls. Her pride doesn't get in the way if she ever needs a helping hand." -ericjr, Urban Dictionary

There are obvious things that independent women want this holiday season, like a pair of Louboutins, or breakfast at Tiffany. But material items barely scratch the surface--independent women desire so much more. Whether coming from best friend or significant other, these are timeless gifts for your independent woman.

1. Respect.

Respect the fact that she's her own person. You don't have to agree with her 100% of the time to accept her thoughts/actions.

2. Support.

Support her goals and aspirations so she can continue to grow under your wing. For example, you may think disliking her outfit is trivial, but you must support her. She strategically puts a deeper meaning into everything she does in order to brand herself, even if it's just through clothing.

3. Personal space.

Understand that when she asks for some space it's nothing personal. Sometimes she needs some quiet time to unwind and plan her next accomplishments.

4. Intelligent conversation.

Stimulate her mind to get to her heart. An independent woman needs someone to keep up with her quick wit.

5. A challenge.

Friendly competition keeps her interested and engaged. Often times she gets bored that other's aren't contributing enough, and she appreciates the little games within interactions.

6. Loyalty.

Always have her back, and she'll always have yours a hundred times over. If you are honest with her, she will allow you to entrust your life in her.

7. Patience.

There's a time and a place for everything, and an independent woman honors someone who understands this.

8. Random acts of kindness.

It never hurts to show her you appreciate her when she least expects it. She'll return the favor so long as it doesn't turn into an obligation.

9. Girl's night out.

A hard-working woman won't be consumed by work. A work-life balance is essential for her success. Give her the chance to let loose and have fun.

10. Empathy.

Learning to put yourself in someone else's shoes is one of the greatest feats in life. Independent women appreciate people who are able to do this.

As Coco Chanel says it best....

"keep your heels, head, and standards high."

So to all you independent women out there, rock your hard-earned Tory Burch and Kate Spade. Proudly buy out Sephora. Keep treating people the way you want to be treated. Enjoy the ride to your accomplishments, while learning from the difficult times. Your good karma will surely bring those secret gifts to you.

Now that it seems “talking” is the new way to date, and will stay that way until another idiotic term is used to describe the people who can’t settle down and just date someone, I feel as if it’s time to go over the unwritten rules of “talking.”

Rule 1. Having feeling without feeling.

What's up Asshat,

I've composed a list of things that I wish upon you, and they're harsh and cruel. These things are things that I wouldn't wish upon my worst of enemies, not even that Starbuck's barista who always screws up my order, not even him. You fall into a whole other category of hate. You surpass Starbucks barista. Congratulations, I'm actually a pretty nice person, making you worthy of every single bit of torture I wish upon you. What are these things I wish upon you you might ask?
