Buying Christmas gifts for my best friend for the past five years has definitely gotten a bit difficult. You'd think the longer you know someone the easier it is to shop for them, but in fact the longer I know someone, the more I critique every potential present. Nothing seems good enough or worthy to give. I am personally one to give gifts that not only meet their interests but that mean something and show I know who they are as a person. It can be hard to find items that are both sentimental and still something the gift receiver would really enjoy.

It's bound to be hard when you feel like you've already given your friends everything they would like during past holidays and birthdays. Here are ten convenient gift ideas that are easy for one to enjoy all while still having some meaningful value behind it all.

1. Fuzzy Blankets

These are extremely easy to use as room decor as well as a snuggle buddy when throwing on some movies.

2. Picture Frames

They are often sentimental and can be kept forever plus they are easy to decorate with.

3. Favorite Snacks and Drinks

It's quite simple and can really showcase how much you know about someone.

4. Gift cards

It may seem like you didn't put much thought into this kind of gift, but you are allowing the receiver to get exactly what they want and you're still having to know them enough to pick a place they would enjoy.

5. Candles

These can liven up any room and you're going to need to think of scents they would actually buy themselves.

6. Shoes

To buy one shoes, you would need to know their personality and focus on how they dress and what is worn the most.

7. Canvas Art

Who doesn't love to decorate with some art? You can surprise someone too with picking the perfect piece that matches who they are.

8. Mugs

They are so cute and easy to buy and you can personalize them to who you are getting them for.

9. Sweatshirts

This one is simple, who doesn't love sweatshirts to snuggle up in?

10. Sports/Concert Tickets

When COVID-19 is settled down, these are one of the best gifts to buy because you really need to know someone to pick what event they'd want to attend.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.
