10 Gift Ideas For The Writer In Your Life

Writing is a passion of mine and many others can say the same. Maybe you know of a special someone who can use an awesome new item to go with their favorite hobby, or maybe you want to spoil yourself. Whatever the case may be, if you know a writer, this article is for you. Believe me, you can get a writer more than a notebook.

1. An engraved pen.

These colorful pens rarely run out of ink and add a pop to your writing. You can also engrave these pens to make them one of a kind for your favorite writer!

2. This motivation quote book.

My boyfriend got me this quote book about two years ago and it has quotes from artists, musicians, actors, directors, etc basically inspiring you to do just about anything. As a writer, it can be frustrating and you may be indecisive about what to write, this book is guaranteed to have enlightening words of encouragement.

3. A mug for a coffee or tea loving writer.

There's something for every type of writer. Usually, a good writer needs a good cup of coffee or tea and this cup is the cup you need for writing "epic shit." Etsy has plenty more of cute writer-inspired mugs. Here's another favorite.

4. Inspirational poster.

Every writer needs a source of inspiration, especially in their writing rooms, and posters do just that! There are plenty of motivational posters with quotes by authors, find out their favorite author and even customize! My personal favorite is this awesome one made on Etsy.

5. These pencils.

These glorious pencils are cute, adorable, and only a writer or reader will get it.

6. This beautiful journal.

For those who love the anatomical side of things.

7. This little "Go Away" sign.

It's perfect for the door of a writer's den!

8. For the writers who drink the hard stuff.

They do say, "write drunk, edit sober!" This whiskey will get the job done.

9. An awesome bed tray.

Bed trays are perfect for those lazy writers who can spend all day in bed writing. I prefer a bed tray that can hold my laptop at an angle, or collapse to a flat surface. Buy one here.

10. A calligraphy set.

I've always wanted one, but have yet to buy one. These things are perfect for the writer who is old fashion or into a beautiful and delicate font. Calligraphy is also heard to be a good stress-relieving method, perfect for those with "writer's block."

You can buy one here or at your local Michaels craft store.

Writers are known for being creative. Buy us anything creative and we are guaranteed to love it. Writing for us is a passion, and any gift you can give us towards our passion will make it that much more rewarding.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies. Here is a few signs that you may live in the library, whether you'd like to admit it or not.
