10 Gifs to Summarize Working Retail

The dreaded word ... retail. So many of us work our way through high school and college working retail, and let's just say it's not easy. It's better than other jobs, I will tell you that, but we all have those daily experiences with customers that ruin our day, bosses that are always on us, working when you really don't want to, but knowing you are making great friends and money in the process. Here are 10 gifs that are relatable to everyone that has worked retail.

1. Walking through the doors for a full work day.

You always know how your day is going to go the second you walk through those doors.

2. When a customer asks you to find something that was right in front of their face.

At least I'm getting my daily steps in! There are always positives ... right?

3. The dreaded "Black Friday."

Enough said.

4. When you're the only one scheduled for the morning shift and it gets crazy busy.

Let's just say you have the feeling of a gazelle being chased by lions. 11 a.m. turns into three p.m. real fast.

5. A customer trying to tell you their life story with a line as long as the Great Wall of China.

I pretend to care, and sometimes I do, but 99.9 percent of the time I'm really not listening. Just nod your head and agree.

6. Having a customer yell at you for something you are not in control of.

I understand your frustration, but I really don't control what comes into the stores and how fast they sell out. I'm sorry I can't use that coupon, but I don't create the rules.

7. When a customer goes and complains to your manager.

He's just going to tell you exactly what I just told you.

8. But knowing your manager has your back.

He or she has been in your shoes. They understand you. The real MVP.

9. Finding out you get to work a shift with your best friend/coworker.

It makes your most dreaded days a little bit brighter, but you know you both will most likely get yelled at for talking too much.

10. But best of all ... pay day!!

After all those tears and long days, that paycheck really pays off. Treat yourself!

There are going to be days you hate and there are going to be days you love. Work, sleep, eat, repeat. Get that money!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
