Are you bummed about being stuck at home this Spring Break? Do you feel like there's no way you could have fun this week with all of your friends out at the beach? Think again!

This list should give you hope that you, too, can have a fun filled Spring Break, even at home.

Just kidding, this list below will actually give you some ideas to occupy yourself on your Spring Break.

1. Be A Tourist In Your Own Town

This one is a great way to get to know your hometown (or college town) better. Research the top places for tourists to go visit if they had never been to your town and take a day to go tour around the city! You might even find new attractions you’ve never even seen before.

2. Find A DIY Project On Pinterest

This one’s a classic. I always see cute DIY projects but I never have the time or motivation to actually follow through with making it. Having a chill Spring Break allows you to take the time to actually devote a few hours to making a craft you normally wouldn’t have time for.

3. Take A Road Trip To The Nearest Big City

Round up some friends and hop in your car and take a mini road trip to the nearest big city. New surroundings offer something unique that your hometown may not normally offer. With unfamiliar restaurants, shops and sights, exploring the city for a day could be a great counter to a weeklong beach trip for Spring Break.

4. Hike Somewhere New

With the weather being warm enough to want to be outdoors but also chilly enough to cool you off after hiking to the top of a mountain, it is ideal for hiking! Finding new sights in nature is always something to pursue and is definitely a great way to spend a day over Spring Break.

5. Find A New Recipe To Cook From Scratch

Wouldn’t it be nice to eat a meal that wasn’t Chick-fil-A or frozen pizza for once? You could devote a day to finding a recipe for one of your favorite meals and taking the time to make it yourself. If you’re feeling extra creative (or hungry), you could even make an appetizer or dessert along with your meal!

6. Volunteer Somewhere

Take some time to be selfless and volunteer at a local shelter or food bank. It is so refreshing to devote some time and energy to your community for the better. While it is your Spring Break and your week to relax and have fun, remember those who aren’t as fortunate and take some time to help them out.

7. Read A Book

Reading is NOT out of style folks! With all the chaos of school, work and extra curricular activities, it’s rare to find the time to just sit down and enjoy a book nowadays. Spring Break is an ideal week to just relax and dedicate some hours to yourself and the pages of a good book.

8. Go To A Local Concert

Go see some local music! There are constantly shows and musicians performing all around the city, and they’re normally pretty cheap! (Who doesn’t love saving money here?) Local concerts are a fantastic way to discover new music and to relax and enjoy a good show.

9. Go To A Theme Park

Embrace your inner child and drive to the nearest theme park or water park. Days spent riding rollercoasters and eating overpriced food are always assuring for a good time. Need I say more?

10. Have An Anti-Spring Break Party

I’m sure you’re not the only one stuck at home this Spring Break. What better way to embrace that then gathering up all of your friends stuck with you and throwing an anti-Spring Break party?

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies.
