Mid-October is a dreaded time around college campuses. Midterm season is upon us and we’re now at school long enough that we’re starting to run out of money and steam. Classes are slowly killing us and all we want to do is sleep.

Recently, my roommates and I have felt the sting of the mid-semester slump and have tried to do some fun things to keep ourselves from completely losing our minds. I decided to compile a list of some of these activities in order to help fellow college students from going absolutely insane.

1. Order random and delicious foods from UberEats because eating makes your soul feel better.

I personally recommend Hanna Hibachi or 16 Handles Frozen Yogurt if you’re in the Fairfield area.

2. Have a dance party.

Just like Meredith and Cristina always said on "Grey's Anatomy", sometimes you’ve just got to dance it out.

3. Binge a Netflix show together for days on end.

We’ve watched a whole lot of "New Girl"and John Mulaney and Nick Kroll’s new show, "Big Mouth." Both are just plain funny and not too serious, which is perfect when you just want to relax and forget all of the work that you need to do.

4. Try to win a radio contest.

A real nice distraction for my roommates and I is trying win tickets to Z100 Jingle Ball. We spend a whole lot of time listening to the radio and calling in every time. Is it a waste of time? Yes. Do we regret it? Not one bit.

5. Have a giant sleepover.

It works a lot better if you have an apartment with a living room and usually have your own bedrooms, but me and my roommates recently brought all of our mattresses into our living room and just had a giant sleepover. It definitely brought back all those middle school slumber party feels.

6. Crafting

Whether it's coloring in a stress relief coloring book, painting or whatever you feel like, taking some time for creative expression is really healthy when you feel like you want to jump out the window from stress.

7. Go enjoy a fun day out.

Take a Saturday or Sunday when no one has a lot of work to do and go have a fun adventure off campus. You could just go get breakfast and walk around town for a bit, go to the mall or enjoy some fun fall activities like apple or pumpkin picking.

8. Play some good throwback games.

The best investment that me and my roommates made this year was our Nintendo Wii. When we’re feeling stressed out, we spend hours on end playing Mario Kart or Just Dance.

9. Baking

Stress baking is an event that often happens in my apartment thanks to my roommate. Focusing on such a low pressure activity can help you relax during all the stress of midterms and papers. Plus, you end up with some delicious baked goods to stress eat.

10. Treat yourself.

No matter how much work you have and how little money you have left, take some time to treat yourself. You’re working hard and you deserve it.

6 Signs You Are An English Major

There are various stereotypes about college students, most of which revolve around the concept of your major. Unfortunately, we often let stereotypes precede our own judgments, and we take what information is immediately available to us rather than forming our own opinions after considerable reflection. If I got a dollar for every time my friends have made a joke about my major I could pay my tuition. One stereotype on campus is the sensitive, overly critical and rigid English major. Here are six telltale signs you are one of them.

27 Things 'The Office' Has Taught Us

"The Office" is a mockumentary based on everyday office life featuring love triangles, silly pranks and everything in between. It can get pretty crazy for just an average day at the office.

When you were little, your parents probably told you television makes your brain rot so you wouldn't watch it for twelve straight hours. However, I feel we can learn some pretty valuable stuff from television shows. "The Office," while a comedy, has some pretty teachable moments thrown in there. You may not know how to react in a situation where a co-worker does something crazy (like put your office supplies in jello) but thanks to "The Office," now you'll have an idea how to behave ifsomething like that should happen.

Here are just a few of the things that religious Office watchers can expect to learn.

Being pre-med is quite a journey. It’s not easy juggling school work, extracurricular activities, volunteering, shadowing, research, and MCAT prep all at the same time. Ever heard of “pain is temporary, but GPA is forever?” Pre-meds don’t just embody that motto; we live and breathe it. Here are 10 symptoms you’re down with the pre-med student syndrome.

High School And College Sucked All Of The Fun Out Of Reading

Books were always about understanding for me, about learning the way someone else sees, about connection.

High School And College Sucked All Of The Fun Out Of Reading

I keep making this joke whenever the idea of books is brought up: "God, I wish I knew how to read." It runs parallel to another stupid phrase, as I watch my friends struggle through their calculus classes late at night in our floor lounge: "I hope this is the year that I learn to count." They're both truly idiotic expressions, but, when I consider the former, I sometimes wonder if there's some truth to it.

One Book Made Me Question Existence In Its Entirety

"The Stranger" by Albert Campus touches upon many heavy elements... but not in the way you expect. Although it touches upon the aspects of death and love, it also deals with a hidden philosophy similar to that of nihilism.

The story follows the short life events of Meursault, a Frenchman whose carelessness for his actions eventually ends him in jail and dependent on a jury of people to judge the ethicality of his decision and the punishment that he deserves. He eventually gets the death penalty and all throughout he is nonchalant and almost apathetic towards his situation. He finally snaps when the prison sends a priest to him to absolve him of his sins and to cajole him in confessing to the lord.
