Time Out

Finally, my experiences are wallet-friendly!

As someone who lived in a small town my whole life, moving to NYC was definitely an eye-opener in many aspects, one of the most shocking being the price of experiencing the city. As a result, I've made a habit of “Googling” free things to do in my free time. So for all those adventurers out there on a budget, here is a list of free things to do in New York City!

1. Free Yoga/Fitness Classes

Athleta sponsors weekly fitness classes at their Flatiron store, which range from yoga to dance, to even meditation sessions. All you need is a free account on their website, to register for a class, and to show up! Also, there is no limit to how many classes you can take in a week! Finally, staying in shape comes at no cost. For more info click here

2. Free Kayaking

Open during the spring and summer months, everyone can kayak in the Hudson River at the Downtown Boathouse. No experience or equipment required, just come ready to get wet and be willing to have a good time. For more info click here.

3. Highline

Running through the west side of the city, the Highline is truly a treasure to see. Once an elevated railroad, the Highline was converted into a walking space decorated with greenery and plenty of Instagram-worthy shots of the city. For more info click here.

4. Central Park

Although being one of the most renowned parks in the city, Central Park offers a variety of free events daily. Once your finished with your free activity, the park itself is an amazing place to walk around and escape from the city's hustle and bustle. For more info click here.

5. See your favorite talk show

NYC is the home to a variety of talk shows like the Late Show with Steven Colbert, The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, Last Week Tonight with John Oliver, and Live with Kelly. The site1iota, offers free tickets to shows' tapings if you don’t mind waiting a couple of hours to be seated. Once you make a free profile on the site, you can register for a general ticket (which is free) for any show that has available seats. For more info click here.

6. Eventbrite

This is one of my favorite websites to see what interesting opportunities are being offered in the city. This site collects events and seminars from a variety of companies, which are then organized by event type for users. From night clubs to business seminars, there is something in store for everyone regardless of their budget. For more info click here.

7. Time Out

This website is also great to see what major events are happening either today or in the upcoming days. Some of the events they list are not entirely free but still worth looking at if you don’t mind spending a little money. For more info click here.

8. Chelsea Galleries

If you ever want some inspiration or to spend time looking at very unique art, Chelsea Galleries is the place for you! Located between 10th avenue and 11th avenue in Chelsea, there are no shortages of art to explore. For more info click here.

9. Visit the MOMA

Every Friday, between 4-8pm, the MOMA offers free admission to everyone. That means you can see some of the most spectacular and influential art of all time for free. For more info click here.

10. Other amazing sites to see

There are actually a bucket load of museums and sites to see all over the city; however, there would be no way to list them all! Check out the link for more free museums and parks to visit. For more info click here.

I think the hardest thing about going away to college is figuring out how to become an adult. Leaving a household where your parents took care of literally everything (thanks, Mom!) and suddenly becoming your own boss is overwhelming. I feel like I'm doing a pretty good job of being a grown-up, but once in awhile I do something that really makes me feel like I'm #adulting. Twenty-somethings know what I'm talking about.

I went to a small high school, like 120-people-in-my-graduating-class small. It definitely had some good and some bad, and if you also went to a small high school, I’m sure you’ll relate to the things that I went through.

1. If something happens, everyone knows about it

Who hooked up with whom at the party? Yeah, heard about that an hour after it happened. You failed a test? Sorry, saw on Twitter last period. Facebook fight or, God forbid, real fight? It was on half the class’ Snapchat story half an hour ago. No matter what you do, someone will know about it.

Chandler Bing

I'm assuming that we've all heard of the hit 90's TV series, Friends, right? Who hasn't? Admittedly, I had pretty low expectations when I first started binge watching the show on Netflix, but I quickly became addicted.

Without a doubt, Chandler Bing is the most relatable character, and there isn't an episode where I don't find myself thinking, Yup, Iam definitely the Chandler of my friend group.

Working with the public can be a job, in and of itself. Some people are just plain rude for no reason. But regardless of how your day is going, always having to be in the best of moods, or at least act like it... right?

1. When a customer wants to return a product, hands you the receipt, where is printed "ALL SALES ARE FINAL" in all caps.

2. Just because you might be having a bad day, and you're in a crappy mood, doesn't make it okay for you to yell at me or be rude to me. I'm a person with feelings, just like you.

3. People refusing to be put on hold when a customer is standing right in front of you. Oh, how I wish I could just hang up on you!

RBF, or resting b*tch face, is a serious condition that many people suffer from worldwide. Suffers are often bombarded with daily questions such as "Are you OK?" and "Why are you so mad?" If you have RBF, you've probably had numerous people tell you to "just smile!"
