I am blessed to be a student at Charleston Southern University which is located on the outskirts of the greatest city in the world, Charleston, South Carolina. Charleston is known for its great food, shopping, and history but being the best city in the world means it can be expensive. As a college student, my friends and I have experienced Charleston and found things to do within our college budget (free). Here is a list of 10 fun free things to do in Charleston, South Carolina on your next visit to the best city ever:

1. Pitt Street Bridge

Pitt Street Bridge is a beautiful little walking bridge on Sullivan’s island where you can picnic, hang your Enos, and watch the sunset fall over downtown Charleston. There is no admission fee and free parking.

2. Waterfront Park

Waterfront Park is the home to the famous Pineapple fountain and has a great view of the Charleston Harbor. It also has swings and fountains to cool off on a hot summer’s day.

3. Walk the Arthur Ravenel Jr. Bridge

The gorgeous bridge over looks the cooper river and has a pedestrian walking path. You can walk from Mount Pleasant to downtown Charleston and vice versa. It’s a pleasant walk and great exercise.

4. Hampton Park

This spectacular park is right across the street from the Citadel and has beautiful floral displays and ducks roaming around the ponds. It’s a beautiful place to walk and picnic.

8. Charleston City Market

The Charleston City Market is a Charleston must. It is a great place to look at the local craftsmanship, classic sweet grass woven baskets, and souvenirs. Even if you don’t buy anything, it is a great classic Charleston experience.

King Street has a ton of shopping opportunities with popular brands but also has local restaurants and shops. Even if you can't get anything then, it gives you great ideas for when family comes to visit.

10. The Battery

The Battery is a park set on the waterfront with different historical monuments to look at. This is another stunning park to picnic at and enjoy the views. It is also a beautiful wedding/ engagement spot, my friends and I have actually witnessed people getting married here.

I love living in Charleston and hope these suggestions help anyone looking for inexpensive things to do in this great city!

18 Things I Want To Do Now That I'm 18

I'm technically an adult, so I'm legally required to live a little, right?

For the entirety of my high school career, I was always seen as the goody-two-shoes. I never got in trouble with a teacher, I kept stellar grades, and when I wasn't doing extracurricular activities, I was at home studying. Even when I did go out, it was usually with a bunch of fellow band geeks. The night would end before 11:00 PM and the only controversial activity would be a fight based on who unfairly won a round of Apples-to-Apples when someone else clearly had a better card (I promise I'm not still holding a grudge).

Now that I'm officially an adult, I want to pursue some new things. I want to experience life in a way that I never allowed myself to do prior to entering college. These are the years that I'm supposed to embark on a journey of self-discovery, so what better way to do that than to create a bucket list?

I've been super busy lately with school work, studying, etc. Besides the fact that I do nothing but AP chemistry and AP economics, I constantly think of stupid questions that are almost impossible to answer. So, maybe you could answer them for me, and if not then we can both wonder what the answers to these 15 questions could be.
