It's that time of year again! It's time for children and adults alike to prepare for another school year. For all you college students out there, here are some sure signs that you are ready for school!

1) The thought of school excites you!

If you are excited for and enthusiastic about school, then you're more than ready to face a new semester. Whether it be the challenging classes and assignments, internships, friends, or clubs that you're involved in, something about school enthralls you and makes you wish you were back on campus right now. When you think of school, you feel joyous.

2) You've already started packing.

If it's barely August and your packing list is all set, congratulations, you are officially excited for school! If you've started packing already, then you are one step ahead of most college students. If you start packing now, then every time you see your massive pile of bags and boxes, you become even more thrilled at the fact that in just three short weeks, you will be strolling over the campus quad.

3) You are trying to decide if you need ALL of your college apparel.

...because you can't wear the same college T-shirt to every hockey game! Yes, hockey games do get hot, especially if you're enthusiastic about your team winning. There truly is a special feeling that you get when walking across campus in your college sweatshirt. You feel proud to be a part of your college family.

4) The thought of dining food is fine, because it makes your mother's meals even better!

Let's be honest, once you get used to it and once you find something that is edible, dining hall food isn't the worst thing you've ever eaten. If you are ready to face the dining hall armed with a fork and an empty stomach, you're ready to go back to school.

5) You have already figured out what time you are doing laundry.

I can't be the only college student who gets up at 7 am on a Saturday morning to do my weekly washing. Or am I? But if you've already tackled the laundry room battle, you've spent enough time thinking about school to be ready to return.

6) You can't wait to step foot into the library.

In fact, you've spent all summer devising a perfect schedule of when to study and where. You also have spent all summer dreaming about your favorite table, or a new place to sit if you're one to like to change things up on occasion.

7) Even dorm bathrooms seem welcoming

Between the messes that bathrooms are famous for, and the leave-your-mess-for-others-to-clean that college students are famous for, you aren't too worried about the dorm showers as long as you have your shower shoes! But to be clear, dorm bathrooms are disgusting and I'd much rather shower at home.

8) You can't wait to see your friends!

No explanation needed.

9) FREEDOM!

You love your family dearly, but no matter how much you love them, you enjoy being out on your own. At college, you are entirely responsible for everything, which while overwhelming at times, is an exceptionally wonderful feeling. Also, you can stay out late whenever you want and as late as you want. Just be mindful that you only have your alarm clock to wake you up for your 8 am, not your mother.

10) You envision watching the sky and relaxing at your favorite place on campus.

Hawkins Pond. Enough said. (See article cover photo.)

So, pack that car and hit the road. A new semester is on final approach!

11 Things Summer Nannies Can Relate To

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

If it hurts now, it'll hurt again. Not because you're gullible or naive, only because you fall fast, hard, and you do it every time.

We fall each and every time with the complete and utter confidence that someone will be there to catch us. Now that person we SWORE we were never going to fall for has our hearts, and every time we see them our palms start sweating. The butterflies in our stomach start to soar and our hearts are entirely too close to bursting out of our chests.

10 Things Only Equestrians Understand

Yes, it IS a sport. Yes, I fall all the time. No, I do not ride in jeans with a cowgirl hat on.

Growing up I have always wanted to own a horse. My grandparents own a well known equestrian facility in Georgia, so I have been riding since I was born. A bond between a person and their horse is a bond so strong that it cannot be broken. Everywhere I went I wanted to be around horses, even forcing my family to go on trail rides during vacations. Horses have been a part of my life for as long as I can remember has taught me great responsibility, as well as 14 things that all equestrians can relate to.

College is super hard. Between working, studying, and having a social life, it feels like a struggle to just keep afloat.

I understand. When you feel like your drowning and there's no way to stay afloat I understand that it feels like everyone else is doing just fine. I understand all the frustration, long nights in the library, and that feeling that you want to just throw in the towel. I understand that sometimes it's too hard to get out of bed because your brain is already filled with too much information to remember. I understand because I am also feeling pretty burnt out.

No Matter How Challenging School Gets, You Have To Put Your Health First — A Degree Won't Mean Anything If You're Dead

Some of the best advice I've ever received was from my social studies teacher in sophomore year of high school. He stated, "If you don't know it at midnight, you're not going to know it for the 8 a.m. exam, so get some sleep."

It's such a simple piece of advice, but it holds so much accuracy and it's something that the majority of college students need to hear and listen to. "All-nighters" are a commonality on college campuses in order to cram in studying for an exam that is typically the next day.
