Do you wonder where college students go for either a late night snack or just to go get food during the day sometimes? Well, here is a list of where most Mississippi College goes here in and around Clinton, MS. Whenever I go to get something to eat, which is not often, I try to get the cheapest thing if possible that is on the menu, because why not, I am a broke college student! Here are some places to eat at whenever you are hungry or want a snack.

1. Chick-fil-A

Chick-fil-A offers mostly chicken, (if you did not know that) but most people prefer to go there, especially when there is a group of people hanging out together because there are a lot of options on the menu. Also, just being honest, most people love Chick-fil-A, so most of the time it is a no brainer where to go to eat. The only bad thing is that they close at 10pm. If you want a late night snack or meal, you will not be able to go there! My favorite item on the menu would be the chicken sandwich!

2. Starbucks

I feel like Starbucks should not even be on the list since the majority of college students love coffee. I am one of those people who like the espresso part of coffee, but I will not drink just plain coffee. Most people like to drink coffee to keep them awake during the day and especially at night. It just depends on how the day is going, whether or not I will get a drink from Starbucks or not. Luckily, my college campus has a coffee shop that you can use your college meal points on. My favorite coffee drink is the Caramel Macchiato. The only bad thing about Starbucks is that they close at 10pm at night, but who would want coffee at 10 o'clock at night anyway?

3. Sonic

Sonic has a lot of various options on the menu. You can get a hamburger, popcorn chicken, slushies, different ice cream treats, and simple fried snacks. The one thing that draws a lot of college students, is that they have their milkshakes half off after 8pm! So, if you want something sweet after 8pm, Sonic is the place to go! That is my personal favorite time to go because of the discount! They also have the half off slushies in the afternoon, but I never have time to go to Sonic in the afternoon! I am also a big fan of Sonic's mozzarella sticks and their fried pickles! Sonic is open 24/7, so you can go anytime you would like to!

4. Taco Bell

I, personally, do not like going to Taco Bell really late at night, but several of my friends go there all of the time. Taco Bell is cheap, though! I usually get the Chicken and Cheese Quesadilla when I go there. Taco Bell is open 24/7, so that is another reason why a lot of people like to go there in the middle of the night. Also, most of the restaurants in Clinton, MS are closed late at night, so that is one of the options to go to.

5. Whataburger

I have only eaten at Whataburger once in my lifetime and that was when I was in middle school! I have not had a chance to eat at Whataburger while I have been in college. Where I am from we do not have this chain of restaurant, so it is different for me. The closest one is in Jackson, MS, which is around 30 minutes or less from college. Most students like to go around midnight to buy the Whataburger's Honey Butter Chicken Biscuit's. From my friend's reviews, those honey butter chicken biscuits are really good! I have been wanting to go and try one, but just have not had a chance to go get one, but I would not want to get one at midnight, anyway. Whataburger is open 24/7, so this gives another place to chill and relax with friends after a long day of classes!

6. Raising Cane's

When I first moved to MC, everyone was talking about eating Raising Cane's and pretty much going nuts over it when they talked about it. I had never heard about this restaurant, because we do not have one where I am from. Everyone told me that is was like Zaxby's but better. I finally went to the restaurant before school started after Spring Break and ate with a group of friends from church and I liked it! I have eaten another time there, and I understand why everyone likes it. The prices are fairly decent, so that is good.

7. McAlister's

Most people just go to McAlister's because of their sweet tea. I have eaten there a couple of times when my parents have come down to visit me and it was good! I know several of my friends make a special trip to just go to McAlister's for their famous sweet tea. Their tea is pretty good and cheap!

8. Little Caesars

If you want a pizza for an occasion or to hangout with friends, most people get it from Little Caesars, because they have their five dollar hot and ready pizza's. Who could beat that? Their pizza's are really good, anyway, so it is a win for win deal! Some people also order pizza from Domino's and they have it delivered on campus, but Domino's is not cheap most of the time!

9. Soup and Mac & Cheese

It is always handy to have a couple of cans or containers of soup, because you never know when you will be sick or when you do not want to leave your dorm to go get food in the Cafeteria! It is also nice to have macaroni and cheese in handy. The kind of mac and cheese where you just have to add water and put it in the microwave. Ramen Noodles are good to have on hand in your dorm room as well. These are cheap and the grocery stores usually have all these items on sale.

10. Candy

Candy is good to have on hand when you have a craving for something sweet and you do not want to go to a fast food place to buy something. It is always good to have for when you are studying or doing homework. My personal favorite candy is Reese's Peanut Butter Cups. It is also nice to have other snacks on hand in your dorm room, because you never know what mood you will be in when you want a snack!

Summer: a time (usually) free from school work and a time to relax with your friends and family. Maybe you go on a vacation or maybe you work all summer, but the time off really does help. When you're in college you become super close with so many people it's hard to think that you won't see many of them for three months. But, then you get that text saying, "Hey, clear your schedule next weekend, I'm coming up" and you begin to flip out. Here are the emotions you go through as your best friend makes her trip to your house.

Winter break is over, we're all back at our respective colleges, and the first week of classes is underway. This is a little bit how that week tends to go.

The professor starts to go over something more than the syllabus

You get homework assigned on the first day of class

There are multiple group projects on the syllabus

You learn attendance is mandatory and will be taken every class

Professor starts chatting about their personal life and what inspired them to teach this class

Participation is mandatory and you have to play "icebreaker games"

Everybody is going out because its 'syllabus week' but you're laying in bed watching Grey's Anatomy

Looking outside anytime past 8 PM every night of this week

Nobody actually has any idea what's happening this entire week

Syllabus week is over and you realize you actually have to try now...or not

Now it's time to get back into the REAL swing of things. Second semester is really here and we all have to deal with it.

panera bread

Whether you specialized in ringing people up or preparing the food, if you worked at Panera Bread it holds a special place in your heart. Here are some signs that you worked at Panera in high school.

1. You own so many pairs of khaki pants you don’t even know what to do with them

Definitely the worst part about working at Panera was the uniform and having someone cute come in. Please don’t look at me in my hat.

7 Ways to Make Your Language More Transgender and Nonbinary Inclusive

With more people becoming aware of transgender and non-binary people, there have been a lot of questions circulating online and elsewhere about how to be more inclusive. Language is very important in making a space safer for trans and non-binary individuals. With language, there is an established and built-in measure of whether a place could be safe or unsafe. If the wrong language is used, the place is unsafe and shows a lack of education on trans and non-binary issues. With the right language and education, there can be more safe spaces for trans and non-binary people to exist without feeling the need to hide their identities or feel threatened for merely existing.
