10 Fictional Deaths I Will Never Get Over
Ari K

To say that I am obsessed with movies and television is an understatement. I silently thank the creators of Netflix and Hulu just about every day (don't worry i still read!). Needless to say I also get very attached to these captivating characters, their struggles and their development. For whatever reason, there comes a point in shows/movies where the writers deem it necessary to off one of the characters. Sometimes those deaths are a hard pill to swallow.

10. Bing Bong (Inside Out)

His death was just so sad to me because it symbolizes Riley growing into her teen years, when imaginary friends are deemed useless and irrelevant. It pains me because logically I understand the reasoning behind his death but that doesn't make me any less angry about it. I just wanted him to come on as a 6th emotion, maybe imagination or something?

9. Chanel #2 (Scream Queens)

The death of Sonya Herfmann, or Chanel #2, was particularly memorable but not in the reason you might think. Honestly I did not mourn this character but the way she died makes her impossible to forget. This was the only time in my life I have ever hysterically laughed at someone who was being murdered. Her satire of our generation's need to share each and everything happening to us, will live on far longer than she was able to

8. Bobby Singer (Supernatural)

Let's face it, the show just isn't the same without Bobby calling Sam and Dean 'Idjits'. He was like the uncle everyone wishes they had. I know if it were up to the Winchesters or me, he would be alive again. At least he died a hero and ultimately saved a lot of lives while losing his own.

7. Daniel Grayson (Revenge)

I'm still salty about this death, to be honest. Daniel was essentially in the wrong place at the wrong time and died saving Emily, who he was never able to get over. Meanwhile, Emily lived her happy ever after with Jack.

6. Mufasa (The Lion King)

I am 23 years old and this death has haunted me since I was 2! I do understand that in order for the movie to happen, Mufasa had to die. But did it honestly have to be in the saddest way possible? No. I do appreciate The Lion King's ties to Hamlet but seriously, this is a cartoon about lions. Is it absolutely necessary to rip my heart out and stomp on it?

5. Jean Gray (X-Men: The Last Stand)

Ugh, Jean. This one just makes me so sad thinking about it. I couldn't even imagine how hard it would be dying at the hands of someone you love. She was/is my sister's absolute favorite so of course we were disappointed that the Phoenix Force from the comics weren't realized with this movie. They had all the potential and they chose to kill her instead of letting her be the most powerful (sexist, no?).

4. Freddie McClair (Skins UK)

FREDDIE! He died defending Effy to her crooked doctor. This "doctor" wanted Effy on pills to medicate a problem that she didn't even have. Freddie stood up to this doctor and it wound up being the last thing he would ever do with his life. I don't remember if it was resolved with Effy or not but I do hope she knows that she was loved very much in life and death.

3. Allison Argent (Teen Wolf)

Allison is arguably the most unnecessary death in Teen Wolf. Crystal Reed (actress) has since moved on to bigger and better things, but I wish they had given Allison a proper exit. She wouldn't have died the way she did, logically speaking. She was a trained fighter and they made her death that of a damsel in distress. To add insult to injury they didn't even bother having a funeral for her. I still get irate thinking about this, I won't even lie. Allison Argent will forever be a BAMF and no Jeff Davis, I'm still not okay!

2. Violet Harmon (American Horror Story: Murder House)

I shouldn't have seen her death as a suprise considering it was subtly foreshadowed throughout the entire season. Nevertheless, that doesn't make it any less tragic. Violet struggled with depression and found it hard fitting in at school. Her death was an accidental/on purpose suicide. The saddest thing? She had no idea she was dead due to the curse on the Murder House until Tate had to show her her own decaying corpse.

The saddest death (for me) in television and movie history:

1. Poussey Washington (Orange Is The New Black)

She deserved better. I cried and screamed at my tv for 15 minutes as/after this happened. I cannot even put into words how sad I was and how much I mourned her death. The writers used her death to parallel the ongoing violence against Black people at the hands of police. They didn't even say her name. She became "an inmate" when it was time to announce the death to the press. Her body laid on the floor for DAYS. DAYS!!!!!! I do understand that she was a prisoner, but people who are locked up are still people! I will literally NEVER get over her death. I won't ever be okay with it and I won't ever be unbothered by it. Fly high Poussey, you beautiful fictional soul.

A big thank you to all of the amazing actors and actresses that played these amazing roles! I am saddened that they won't be able to reprise them at some point (Supernatural excluded) but I am grateful for the lessons their characters taught me.

College is hard. As people ages 18-22, we’re just trying to figure out what we’re doing with our lives, our careers, our eating habits, exercise routines, sleep patterns, and other necessities for adult life. We definitely don’t take proper care of ourselves; it’s basically impossible when we have essays, tests and readings due and somehow we’re supposed to eat right, exercise and sleep. We’re doomed to get sick. I have zero experience in science but when I get sick there are certain things I do to make myself better.

Now that it seems “talking” is the new way to date, and will stay that way until another idiotic term is used to describe the people who can’t settle down and just date someone, I feel as if it’s time to go over the unwritten rules of “talking.”

Rule 1. Having feeling without feeling.
