"The Fosters" is one of my favourite reality TV shows (and I normally don't watch TV). It's about a teenage girl, Callie Jacob, who gets placed in a foster home with a lesbian couple and their blend of biological, adoptive and foster children. It focuses on a lot of really controversial issues and that's why I love it so much. There are so many great moments and quotes, so I'm going to share with you today my 10 Favourite Quotes from "The Fosters" that speak for themselves

1. "We probably judge ourselves way harsher than anyone judges us" -Ana Gutierrez

It's okay to give yourself grace sometimes

2. "DNA doesn't make a family, Love does." -Lena Adams Foster

Who you call your family doesn't have to be those who are related to you by blood. Sometimes the best families are the ones who aren't.

3. "There's nothing wrong with being different." -Lena Adams Foster

Be who you are. Embrace it. As the famous Dr. Seuss says, those who matter don't mind and those who mind don't matter.

4. "Sometimes it's better to ask for forgiveness than for permission" -Mariana Foster

(This is one of the more mischievous quotes, where Mariana would rather do something without asking for her moms permission but rather asking for forgiveness later)

5. "Who I love shouldn't be an issue for you or anyone else" -Stephanie Foster

In a world where the idea of who a person loves has become such a big issue, who you love is who you love. You shouldn't ever let anyone tell you it's an issue. If they have an issue with who you love, that's something they need to work out alone.

6. "Why does everyone go around labeling people?" -Jude Adams Foster

Makes us think. Why do we go around putting labels on people? Good or bad ones.

7. "You do what you have to do for the sake of your family" -Lena Adams Foster

Family always comes first. Sometimes the hardest thing in the world is the thing you have to do for your family.

8. "You are a mathematical equation which I have yet to solve." -A.J. Hensdale

Because this show isn't just all sad stories. There's romance and awful pickup lines!

9. "You're not disposable Callie. You're not worthless." -Stephanie Foster

No human should ever feel like they're worthless or disposable. Because they're not. Everyone is worthy of love.

10. "When you continue to justify your actions, it's a pretty clear sign that you've lost your sight of right and wrong." -Lena Adams Foster

You can't justify everything that you do because then it's very clear that you've become desensitized to right and wrong. You have no clear pathway and/or rules and morals to tell you.

Have I convinced you to watch the show yet?! It's on Netflix if you're interested. It really is an amazing show, and I would recommend it to anyone and everyone that I could.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies. Here is a few signs that you may live in the library, whether you'd like to admit it or not.
