If you grew up and can relate to the era of “90’s kids,” then you’ll surely remember these 10 trends most of us are guilty of wearing back-in-the-day.
1. Choker Necklaces
This trend is making a comeback in the last few years. Whether the original plastic, twisted choker or a more modern look with charms and beads, a choker is bound to make any outfit look more badass.
P.S. If you or someone you know is in on bringing back chokers, check out @outcharmed on Instagram or on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/outcharmed/. Custom jewelry and clothing is available for purchase!
2. Jelly Sandals
My mom still has my original pair...
3. Overalls
Overalls are another trend becoming increasingly popular in today’s society. 90’s kids will remember rocking plain denim overalls, or even printed ones (I owned a hot pink pair printed with small, colorful flowers all over the place).
4. Spiky Crop Tops
OK, who remembers these? I never knew what they were called (nor do I even now), but these tops were an undeniably huge trend in the 90's. What better to wear under those overalls?
5. High-Waisted Jeans
Probably wouldn't be as chic paired with a spiky crop top, but high-waisted jeans (and shorts) are definitely coming back as such.
6. Fanny Packs
In hindsight, fanny packs were actually very practical accessories. Girls didn’t have to wear purses, and you always had a place to keep some Animal Crackers when you were on the go.
7. Slap Bracelets
These were just fun. It wasn’t so much for the appearance as it was having a reason to slap your friend to put a bracelet on them.
8. Butterfly Clips
If you never braided dreads (or tried to) into your hair and held them in place with butterfly clips, you’re lying. This was the absolute “thing to do” for girls when picture day came around.
9. Tamagotchis
Tamagotchis weren’t just a game, they were an accessory. The more Tamagotchi eggs you had, the cooler you were. Boys and girls alike had Tamagotchis on all of their wish lists.
10. Hit Clips
Hit Clips were similar to Tamagotchis in the sense that they became an almost required accessory to any outfit. Your high-top Chucks never looked better than with your favorite songs.
