The University at Buffalo may not be Harvard but many great faces have passed through this campus. People ranging from professional athletes to CEO's have come and gone. Here is a list of some of UB's most notable alumnus.
1. Wolf Blitzer:
Word famous and award winning journalist Wolf Blitzer attend UB before he became a big name in the journalism world. He graduated and received a Bachelor of Arts history in 1970.
2. Harvey Weinstein:
You might not know his face or his name but you have heard of many of the movies he has produced. He graduated from UB in the 1970's before creating one of the biggest movie production companies in the US. He has produced such films as "Pulp Fiction," "Good Will Hunting," and The Lord of the Ring series. He has multiple Oscar awards and Tony awards for his work on Broadway.
3. John Walsh:
Primarily known for hosting the popular Television show "Americas Most Wanted," John Walsh went to the University at Buffalo in the 1960's
4. Gregory Jarvis:
The namesake for Jarvis Hall is after one of the late Astronauts that traveled on the Space Shuttle Challenger. He received a B.S. degree in electrical engineering from UB in 1967.
5. Kahlil Mack:
Mack graduated from UB in 2014. Drafted in the first round of the 2014 Draft at pick number 5 to the Oakland Raiders. He plays Defensive end and outside linebacker. Mack played in the 2015 Pro Bowl and was awarded first-team all-pro 2015.
6. Ira Flatow:
This science journalist is the original host of the Emmy award winning show "Newtons Apple" and current host of NPR's "Talk of the Nation - Science Friday." He attended UB in the 1970's and worked on an engineering degree.
7. Abbe Raven:
CEO and President of the A+E Networks, Abbe Raven received her B.A. in Theatre from UB. She is also the founder of the History Channel.
8. Tom Toles:
Tom Toles is a Pulitzer Prize winning Political Cartoonist for the Washington Post. Toles graduated form UB magna cum laude in the 1970's and wrote for the university newspaper "The Spectrum."
9. Terry Gross:
Terry Gross is the host of the radio interview show "Fresh Air" She has won a Peabody award for her work on this show. She graduated from UB in the 1970's with a bachelors degree in English and a Masters of Education in communication.
10. Jeffery Wigand:
Jeffery Wigand was the Highest ranking former tobacco industry executive to become a whistle blower against the tobacco industry. He earned a masters in Biochemistry and a PhD from UB in the 1970's. HE was the main subject of the film "The insider" which starred Russell Crowe.
