Ladies and gentlemen, it is officially week 13. That means that we're essentially over this semester while also being about to begin the most difficult few weeks of it. So, before you start stress eating or have an emotional breakdown in your school's library, let's take a deep breath. Even though nothing can save you from finals or the many emails you'll probably send begging for extra credit opportunities, there are positive ways to combat the overwhelming stress in your life. For a few minutes, pull yourself away from your textbook and read these wonderful facts. Remember, there are still good things in the world.
1. Bill Murray gave his extra World Series ticket to a stranger outside of the ballpark.
The stranger got to watch the game alongside Murray and other celebrities. Then, after 108 years, the Cubs won the World Series. Cubbies fan or not, that's a pretty spectacular story.
2. Beyoncé performed at the 50th CMAs alongside the Dixie Chicks.
For those few minutes of airtime, my 9-year-old self and my 20-year-old self met harmoniously, and my heart melted. This was the best of both worlds for anyone who grew up listening to "Wide Open Spaces" but now gets down to "Formation." Not only that, but we finally found that there is nothing Queen Bey can't do. Bless up.
3. Jackie and Kelso ended up together.
Oh, and if you didn't know, they also have two kids together. We don't know if he lets her put makeup on him in real life, but we're OK with whatever as long as they're together.
4. Mickey and Minnie Mouse also ended up together.
Step aside Mila and Ashton. We all know who the true power couple is. The actors who voiced Mickey and Minnie Mouse, Wayne Allwine and Russi Taylor, were actually married.
5. Katy Perry has a cat named Kitty Purry.
If that doesn't make you smile, then there's really no hope for you ever being happy. That's just adorable.
6. The official Space Jam website hasn't changed since 1996.
All '90s kids can appreciate this because as you know, "we love that ba-sket-ball." Thank you, Warner Bros., for preserving this piece of our childhood.
7. The word "love" was used by the Beatles 613 times in their songs.
Just another fact that makes it hard not to love the Beatles. It's no wonder that their influence on music and culture has persisted for this long.
8. In Cormorant, Minnesota, the mayor is a dog.
This is not a drill, people. His name is Duke, and in August of this year the town re-elected him for his third term. That is so dog-gone cute.
9. Walt Disney holds the record for the most Oscar nominations.
Pulling in 64 nominations, this true artist has surpassed anyone else in the game. This makes perfect sense, though, considering he created the majority of our childhood.
10. Winnie the Pooh cheers sick children up.
Well, it's actually his voice who cheers them up. Jim Cummings calls hospitals and talks to patients in his Winnie the Pooh voice to boost their spirits.
I hope that after reading these 10 facts you've forgotten about the thing that was getting you down. The truth is, it's a stressful time for all of us right now. However, there are too many awesome things in the world to not turn that frown upside down. So, think of the happy stuff and not the stuff that makes you burst into tears. You'll be amazed at how much brighter your day will be.
