10 Things You Experienced Freshman Year At Emory

1. Felt awkward walking to the bathroom in your towel for the first time.

And were scared when you ran in to your RA while in said towel

.

2. Performed at songfest (but never attended a practice)

You had no idea what was going on, but were upset when you didn't win.

3. Stole a spoon/bowl/cup/plate from the DUC

By the time you graduate, you figured you would have at least 5 full dining sets.

4. Took a mass amount of fruit from the DUC

You never knew when you would need a banana or grapefruit!

5. Attended First Friday

And felt instantly inspired to try out for an acapella group the following year.

6. Waited until the last week of PACE to use your one "skip class" pass

Self explanatory.

7. Walked to Chipotle because you were sick of DUC food.

This happened once a week. Or maybe twice.

8. Been anxious about enrollment times. Cried when you didn't get the classes you wanted.

You knew not the power of add/drop/swap.

9. Ran in to your RA at a party

Similar experience to the towel. But worse. Way worse.

10. Spent all of your Dooley dollars in one week.

Starbucks is good, but so is Twisted Taco. No wonder why you gained 15 pounds freshman year.

7 Ways to Make Your Language More Transgender and Nonbinary Inclusive

With more people becoming aware of transgender and non-binary people, there have been a lot of questions circulating online and elsewhere about how to be more inclusive. Language is very important in making a space safer for trans and non-binary individuals. With language, there is an established and built-in measure of whether a place could be safe or unsafe. If the wrong language is used, the place is unsafe and shows a lack of education on trans and non-binary issues. With the right language and education, there can be more safe spaces for trans and non-binary people to exist without feeling the need to hide their identities or feel threatened for merely existing.

singing
Cambio

Singing is something I do all day, every day. It doesn't matter where I am or who's around. If I feel like singing, I'm going to. It's probably annoying sometimes, but I don't care -- I love to sing! If I'm not singing, I'm probably humming, sometimes without even realizing it. So as someone who loves to sing, these are some of the feelings and thoughts I have probably almost every day.
