It’s back, ladies and gentlemen. In addition to buying all
your other groceries, at the entrance of each super market will be a group of
adorable little girls selling the greatest gift we’ve been given as a human
race. That’s right, it’s Girl Scout Cookie season.
From Thin Mints to Samoas
and even Tag-a-longs, you’re stuffing your face full of deliciousness. You also
don’t realize how much money you’ve spent because they’re so damn good and that
sense of guilt rises over you if you pass a troop and don’t buy their cookies.
As a former Girl Scout, I know the struggle of selling enough boxes of cookies.
(It’s hard out there on the streets). Everyone has their favorites and no one
has any limits on how many they can eat. Cookie season is a struggle in itself,
and the gang from
"It’s Always Sunny in
Philadelphia" knows exactly what our struggles are like every year. We may not be
running a bar in Philly, but they can relate to cookie season with us.
You see the first official table of girls selling Girl Scout cookies at the grocery store.
You buy more than your fair share of boxes and rush home to eat all your cookies.
After putting away three boxes of Thin Mints, you realize you are once again going down a dark path; a path that involves too many cookies and a dent in your wallet.
When someone says they don't like Thin Mints and you just can't wrap your head around it because Thin Mints are amazing.
When someone eats your last box of Thin Mints...
There's always that one girl who outsells any other girl in her troop.
You lose count of how many cookies you've actually eaten and admit that you have a problem.
You pass by the Girl Scouts on your way out of the grocery store and awkwardly look at each other until you both realize you can't even afford to buy any more cookies.
You take a week off of the cookies and are ready to buy some more, when you realize cookie season is over, and no more Samoas for a whole year.
Now you drown yourself in tears and leftover cookie crumbs until next year rolls around. Enjoy it while you can, because just like love, Girl Scout cookies are fleeting.
