If you're an eldest child, you know the day your siblings were born can also be called the day you lost your freedom forever. Between having to babysit them for your parents whenever they need a break, and making sure you properly hide all your belongings so they don't suddenly disappear, having siblings is something that gives us multiple emotions. Even though they can be annoying most of the time and little snitches, the truth is they make family gatherings a little more bearable and there's no denying how much you care about them. Here are 10 common struggles us older siblings understand:
1. You're expected to be the responsible one.
2. You're supposed to "set a good example" for them. So everything you did bad would be magnified a thousand times because of this.
3. Doesn't matter if you're in a fight and you're right, you will always lose because you're older and "supposed to know better".
4. They're always sneaking into your closet and taking all your clothes, shoes, and makeup. Without permission.
5. Yet when you ask to borrow their stuff, they always get mad and say no.
6. They always get stuff way earlier than you did. Like a smartphone in 7th grade. When you got yours as a sophomore. But you right, you treat us all equally.
7. When they're having trouble in school, your parents ask you to be their personal tutor. Ya know, cause I don't already have 100 other things on my plate to deal with.
8. You're expected to pass down your wisdom to them.
9. You can't go out to a movie with a friend without your parents until you're about 16, but it's totally cool for them to go to a PG-13 movie alone when they're just 11.
10. Even though they annoy the life out of you daily, the truth is, your life would be a hell of a lot more boring without having someone to bother on a daily basis.
