10 Easy Holiday Gifts

The holidays have rolled around, and you and your friends have decided to go to the infamous gift exchange. Except there is one problem -- you are the textbook broke college student and, now,  you need to go out and shop for a present for your lucky “secret Santa.” But, instead of shopping, why not craft? We all know that every sorority girl has crafted at least once in her life, so break out those skills one more time.

1. Sugar cookie scrub. It cannot get any easier than this. Every person loves a good scrub and this is an easy gift, with an even better reaction for whoever receives this.

2. A crafty mug. When it comes time to the holidays, whether you stay in the cold or get to venture home to the warm, every person loves a nice mug. Either make one at your pottery store, or buy a plain one with non-chip paints and get to crafting!

3. The perfect ornaments. No matter who you are, decorating the Christmas tree or the house can be the best part of the holidays. And what could make it even more fun? Easy and simple ornaments that can be made within a matter of minutes. All you need is an old scrabble set you don’t want anymore and some ribbon!

4. What’s easier than a picture frame? Buy a simple black or white picture frame and decorate it with anything you like. It might just be a simple bow, paint markers with fancy designs or hot glue gunning flowers in the corner of the frame. Just don’t forget the most important part -- the picture!

5. Like any sorority girl, you have made canvases of every shape, style and form. So why not whip it out again? You can make one for the holidays, or a regular canvas with your friend’s favorite saying or quote.

6. Spa in a jar. No matter who you are, there are times when you wish you could head to the spa but you have no time or money. This becomes the perfect gift for your perfect friend. Buy everything necessary for a mini spa day, in mini form, and you have just made your friend's holiday gift exchange one to remember.

7. In every friend group, one or two are the cooks. Make their lives a little easier and give them a compilation of their favorite recipes, yours and some that neither of you have tried. That way, over the holidays, they have something to do with their long four weeks and something for you to enjoy!

8. Buy a wide variety of tea and make your Secret Santa a tea wreath! One of the best things to do during the Holidays is wrap up in a warm blanket and grab yourself a cup of tea. All you need are clothes pins, tea bags, a piece of cardboard you cut into the shape of a wreath and any of decorations you desire, such as ribbons!

9. The ultimate snack bin. If this isn’t the best gift idea ever, then who knows what is. Whether it is midterms week or just one of those days, everybody loves a wide variety of snacks that they don’t have, or never even knew they needed. Shop for every kind of snack possible and, for fun, put it in a laundry bin for your easy traveling and for when they break theirs due to an overload of dirty clothes!

10. Making bracelets is one of the fastest and easiest ways to give someone a present they are sure to love. It doesn’t have to be the most intricate, but with the right beads and accessories to string on the bracelet, it can be the perfect present to make anyone’s holidays.

In honor of Mother’s Day, I have been thinking of all the things my mom does for my family and me. Although I couldn’t write nearly all of them, here are a few things that moms do for us.

They find that shirt that’s right in front of you, but just you can’t seem to find.

10 Reasons To Thank Your Best Friend

Take the time to thank that one friend in your life you will never let go of.

Thank You on wooden blocks

1. Thank you for being the one I can always count on to be honest.

A true friend will tell you if the shirt is ugly, or at least ask to borrow it and "accidentally" burn it.

2. Thank you for accepting me for who I am.

A best friend will love you regardless of the stale french fries you left on the floor of your car, or when you had lice in 8th grade and no one wanted to talk to you.

Do as I say, not as I do.

Your eyes widen in horror as you stare at your phone. Beads of sweat begin to saturate your palm as your fingers tremble in fear. The illuminated screen reads, "Missed Call: Mom."

Growing up with strict parents, you learn that a few things go unsaid. Manners are everything. Never talk back. Do as you're told without question. Most importantly, you develop a system and catch on to these quirks that strict parents have so that you can play their game and do what you want.

"Friends" maybe didn’t have everything right or realistic all the time, but they did have enough episodes to create countless reaction GIFs and enough awesomeness to create, well, the legacy they did. Something else that is timeless, a little rough, but memorable? Living away from the comforts of home. Whether you have an apartment, a dorm, your first house, or some sort of residence that is not the house you grew up in, I’m sure you can relate to most of these!
