It's no lie that dating in today's society is rough. From ghosting to fear of commitment, you're never 100% sure what's going on and when. So here is a list compiled by my friends and I of dating habits that need to make a comeback ASAP.

1. Ask to go on a date, don't just ask to "hang out".

I'm so sick of this "hanging out" and "just talking". I'm sick of having "things" with people. Be straight up and if it's a date, say it's a date.

2. Cliché is okay.

Don't be afraid to try the clichés on dates. They're clear indicators that you're interested.

3. Skip the "Netflix and chill" and go on an actual date.

When is the last time your first date was actually going out somewhere? Having someone come over to watch movies is not a date.

4. Be spontaneous.

Be adventurous. Try new things. Don't be afraid to make a fool of yourself.

5. Picking them up at the door/walking them to the door after the date.

Skip the "I'm outside" text. Just knock on the door. Also, walk your date to the door after the date – PERFECT MOMENT TO GO IN FOR A GOODNIGHT KISS.

6. Dress up for a date.

Okay, you don't need to wear a ballgown but dress it up a little. Wear a dress, skirt, or any sort of attire that makes it look like you tried to look nice. Guys – wear a nice shirt and jeans/khakis. This small effort goes a long way.

7. Skip the text and call.

Call when you get home after the date – talk for hours. It's much more romantic than a text.

8. Be on time.

Being late is not attractive. End of story.

9. If it's cold out, offer your jacket.

Even if she declines, just do it. Plus, if she "forgets" to give it back, you now have an excuse to see her again.

10. Being clear on your intentions. No more of this ghosting BS.

This is the biggest issue of today's dating. Nobody is honest about how they feel and where they want things to go. If you're not feeling it anymore, let the person know. Don't just suddenly stop communicating.

Being a part of any organization undoubtedly comes with the pitfalls of being grouped into negative stereotypes, and sororities are certainly no exception. Here are the top few things, that I find at least, are some of the most irritating misconceptions that find their way into numerous conversations...

8. "The whole philanthropy thing isn't real, right?"

Well all those fundraisers and marketing should would be a waste then wouldn't they?

11 Things Summer Nannies Can Relate To

There are plenty of obstacles that come when taking care of kids, but it's a very rewarding experience.

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

There are a lot of really easy, common names in the U.S. and while many of those simple names have different spellings, most of the time, pronunciation is not an issue that those people need to worry about. However, others are not as fortunate and often times give up on corrections after a while. We usually give an A+ for effort. So, as you could probably imagine, there are a few struggles with having a name that isn’t technically English. Here are just a few…

Daydreaming

day·dream (ˈdāˌdrēm/): a series of pleasant thoughts that distract one's attention from the present.

Daydreams, the savior of our life in class. Every type of student in the classroom does it at least once, but most cases it is an everyday event, especially in that boring class -- you know the one. But what are we thinking while we are daydreaming?

Puerto Ricans. They are very proud people and whether they were born on the island or born in the United States by Puerto Rican parent(s). It gets even better when they meet another fellow Puerto Rican or Latino in general. You’ll know quickly if they are Puerto Rican whether the flag is printed somewhere on their person or whether they tell you or whether the famous phrase “wepa!” is said.
