Emily Takes Photos

I'm in the midst of planning my dream wedding and with no shame, I can say that I have spent hours on Pinterest planning out details that in no sane world exist. I bought my wedding dress days after getting engaged and signed contracts for the venue and food before he had the chance to run the other way. With the wedding less than a year away I've started to look into photographers and have pinned every cliche pose to ever make its way to the internet. The common post is compiled of all the must have photos a bride should take on her wedding day, after searching for hours I'm here to release the highly anticipated news about the photos I will certainly not be taking.

1. The classic "I'm dragging this man into a doom-filled future and you are all here to document the sheer horror he must feel photo".

Even though I'm sure that most couples don't feel this way on their wedding day, someone still convinces them to take a stupid photo like this.

2. Our photographer ran out of photo ideas even though you're paying them 3,000+ so we're pretending to run away from a photoshopped creature. NO.

3. Definitely the photo I'll want in my front entry way for years to come.

4. Sure do this with the leaning tower of Pisa, but why make your new hubby look like a strange man-child.

5. Sorry, I know you were all dying to wear camo dresses but I don't think these photos are going to be in our lineup.

6. "Here Honey forget about the photo with grandma, let's pretend to be a running giant!"

People won't care that the cocktail hour is 3 hours long because we're getting awesome photos like this!

7. If you think I'm going to lay on the cement ground in my wedding dress for a pointless photo, you are terribly wrong.

8. Honestly, what do people do with these photos?

9. No, I promise people think it's awesome when the bride shows up soaking wet to the reception, it's the new trend.

10. The editing is a real masterpiece here, not too sure what's going on but I don't think I need this one added to the scrapbook.

Surprisingly enough some might look through these and gain inspiration for their wedding photos, but these are some of the poses I plan on staying far away from.

7 Ways to Make Your Language More Transgender and Nonbinary Inclusive

With more people becoming aware of transgender and non-binary people, there have been a lot of questions circulating online and elsewhere about how to be more inclusive. Language is very important in making a space safer for trans and non-binary individuals. With language, there is an established and built-in measure of whether a place could be safe or unsafe. If the wrong language is used, the place is unsafe and shows a lack of education on trans and non-binary issues. With the right language and education, there can be more safe spaces for trans and non-binary people to exist without feeling the need to hide their identities or feel threatened for merely existing.

singing
Cambio

Singing is something I do all day, every day. It doesn't matter where I am or who's around. If I feel like singing, I'm going to. It's probably annoying sometimes, but I don't care -- I love to sing! If I'm not singing, I'm probably humming, sometimes without even realizing it. So as someone who loves to sing, these are some of the feelings and thoughts I have probably almost every day.
