10 Creative DIY Costumes For Halloween

Halloween was fun until you had to spend your own money on costumes. Skip the tacky, factory made, expensive costumes for items you can thrift or already have. We're in college and we're trying to ball on a budget. Check out these costumes that will make sure you can afford guacamole at Chipotle

Tacky Tourist:

What you need: bucket hat, Hawaiian shorts, fanny pack and socks with sandals. This is a judgement-free zone to wear sock and sandals. For extra fun bring a disposable camera and then you have some old-fashioned documentation of Halloween.

2. Minions:

Who doesn't love these adorable creatures that speak a made up language? So easy to make this costume since there are so many variations

What you need:

jeans, a hat and a yellow shirt.

3. 101 Dalmatians:

Can you imagine entering a room to a giant group of Dalmatians? It's priceless and unexpected. If someone wants to stand out in your group, they can be Cruella De Ville, just get colored hair spray and a black and white fur vest and white dress

What you need for the Dalmations:

Black pants, a white shirt and face make-up.

4. The rainbow Snapchat filter

All you need is some makeup and BAM

5. Russel and the bird from "Up":

This is a fun duo, affordable, and you can also add the other characters if there are more people in your group.

What you need:

For Russel a yellow polo, shorts, a hat, and buttons if you want to go all out. For the bird you need a blue top and feathers for the bottom.

6. Lilo and stitch:

Everyone recognizes the adorable Hawaiian hula girl and her alien pal.

What you need:

a red top, a hula skirt or green skirt and a flower headband, all super easy and affordable (stitch optional)

7. Matilda:

Who doesn't want to dress up as a cute parisian girl?

What you need:

a straw hat, blue dress, red scarf, mary janes and white over the knee socks.

8. Janet Snakehole and Bert Macklin FBI:

Andy and April from "Parks and Rec" are expected on Halloween. These costumes are easy and you can easily spot who likes quality comedies.

What you need:

For Janet: a black dress, a hat with fish nets, and pearls. For Bert: a navy jacket (you can easily write on it to say FBI), and aviator sunglasses.

9. Ben Wyatt and Leslie Knope:

They're the ultimate power couple. When you walk through the door everyone will know that you love Pawnee, waffles, and cones of dunshire.

What you need:

Business attire for Leslie, and a cardigan for Ben. A couple of handmade LESLIE 2014 buttons and you're golden

10. Cameron and Ferris:

The original dynamic duo. They perfected what it means to have "friendship goals"

What you need:

For Ferris: a white shirt, jeans, leather jacket an sunglasses. For Cameron: a Red wings (ew) jersey and sunglasses.

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.
