10 Things That Are Completely Normal If You Attended An All-Girl High School

Someone had to say it.

10 Things That Are Completely Normal If You Attended An All-Girl High School

Going to an all-girl's school really is a blessing. When I tell most people that I attended an all-girl high school they either respond with "Whoa, that sucks" or "That's awful. I'm sorry," and I never really understood why they said that. I would explain to them that if they made the decision that I did they would feel the same way. Because, honestly, attending an all-girl high school has shaped me into the person I am today.

Although, college for me was definitely a different experience because I do attend a co-ed university. That means boys. Weird.

The first couple weeks it took me a while to get used to walking to class and seeing a boy in front of me or sitting near one in class. And when I say near I mean across the room.

I would see girls walking to class in full hair and makeup and thinking in my head how I felt bad for them and wondering why they did that. But, after getting used to it I could see why they did it, but not changing my ways at all on how I get ready for class. Meaning, bun on top of head and maybe mascara.

Now, also, girls that go to a school without any boys do create some very odd traditions according to the naked eye. So, why not tell you things today that are considered completely normal to girls that were surrounded by pretty much other girls for a full four years.

1. First, not brushing your hair

That's a given. I mean, who do we have to impress?

2. Wearing shirts that cover your shorts

You're aren't doing it right if people don't ask if you have pants on.

The answer is always yes.

3. Stuffing your face

We never really had to worry about manners or caring about how much we eat, so why start now? Getting asked on dates sometimes gives us anxiety because we do not know whether to use a fork or not and if it's OK to order two meals.

4. Not knowing how to talk to boys

Some girls are better than others, but sometimes we make this face, think we look attractive and hope he does not run away.

5. Wearing unmatched clothing and think it looks good

I have been the victim one too many times on this one.

6. Always dressing up in a costume

At an all-girls school, you usually have days where everyone goes all out and dresses up in a costume that might be considered weird to some people, but not the girls. They just look normal in our eyes. It really comes in handy when you are in a sorority because looking for an outfit for an exchange comes easy.

7. Wearing a Uniform

A lot of private schools wear uniforms and to be honest, I did not mind it because the stress of not knowing what to wear every day was never an issue.

8. Being competitive

9. Having huge school pride

The above picture is what our pep rallies usually look like.

10. Lastly, Being supportive

It does not matter what our fellow classmate, best friend or a girl who sits behind us in class does, we will always support them. Because that is what us girls do.

I think the hardest thing about going away to college is figuring out how to become an adult. Leaving a household where your parents took care of literally everything (thanks, Mom!) and suddenly becoming your own boss is overwhelming. I feel like I'm doing a pretty good job of being a grown-up, but once in awhile I do something that really makes me feel like I'm #adulting. Twenty-somethings know what I'm talking about.

Chandler Bing

I'm assuming that we've all heard of the hit 90's TV series, Friends, right? Who hasn't? Admittedly, I had pretty low expectations when I first started binge watching the show on Netflix, but I quickly became addicted.

Without a doubt, Chandler Bing is the most relatable character, and there isn't an episode where I don't find myself thinking, Yup, Iam definitely the Chandler of my friend group.

Working with the public can be a job, in and of itself. Some people are just plain rude for no reason. But regardless of how your day is going, always having to be in the best of moods, or at least act like it... right?

1. When a customer wants to return a product, hands you the receipt, where is printed "ALL SALES ARE FINAL" in all caps.

2. Just because you might be having a bad day, and you're in a crappy mood, doesn't make it okay for you to yell at me or be rude to me. I'm a person with feelings, just like you.

3. People refusing to be put on hold when a customer is standing right in front of you. Oh, how I wish I could just hang up on you!

RBF, or resting b*tch face, is a serious condition that many people suffer from worldwide. Suffers are often bombarded with daily questions such as "Are you OK?" and "Why are you so mad?" If you have RBF, you've probably had numerous people tell you to "just smile!"

While this question trend can get annoying, there are a couple of pros to having RBF.

Yify

Another day, another Elle Woods comment. Can’t us blondes get through the day without someone harping at us over the typical stereotypes about who we are? I never understood why a person was judged based upon the hair color they were born with, or the hair color they choose to have (unless you dye your hair blue like Kylie Jenner, I’m still trying to understand why that’s a trend). Nevertheless, as it should be assumed, not everyone is the same. Not all blondes like bright colors and Lilly Pulitzer, and not all blondes claim to identify with Marilyn Monroe. I think the best suggestion to give to people before they make such radical claims is to stop judging a book by its cover. Or in this case, stop judging a blonde by her hair color.
