10 Things College Students Need To Hear Right Now

It's the week before finals, we all need some motivation and reminders.

10 Things College Students Need To Hear Right Now

1. This isn't forever.

Right now the stress is overwhelming. Scheduling and finals are upon us. It feels like an endlessly pit of never getting anything done. It will end. Hang in there!

2. Most of this will not matter in the next few years.

You have to realize the stress you are undergoing right now will not be important when you finally have that degree in your hand. You know you worked hard and gave it your all.

3. Take a break.

It is unhealthy to go without eating or drinking. You don't need a hospital visit on top of your already hectic schedule. Plus, how would that cause of death look. "Death by studying." Pathetic.

4. Nap.

That's right. I am condoning sleeping during the day. Now this does not mean an extended amount of time. However, I know personally naps make me happy and afterwards I am more efficient. So indulge.

5. Call your parents/grandparents.

I am extremely guilty of this. I know it is easy to forget. You get caught in your studies, work, extracurriculars, etc. But your family likes to feel involved and know you are alive. (Sorry guys!)

6. Find enjoyment.

"It's the most stressful time of the year." Whether you receive enjoyment from laying in your bed for an hour or going to dinner with some friends, make time for it. No need to lose your mind.

7. Plan your day.

I know personally I over analyze and plan things, but it is my security blanket. It makes me feel more in control and ensures that I am not missing anything. Now for the non-control-freak just writing down your upcoming assignments may suffice.

8. Do not let the exam consume you.

Over studying is a thing. It creates more stress. Now I am not endorsing procrastination or cramming because neither turns out okay. However, relax, study for a set amount of hours and work on the material you are unsure about.

9. Talk and meet with your professors.

I know this is not one of my strong suits. I am socially awkward to the max and authority figures do not help my anxiety. But, it is their job and the majority of them love to talk about their field of study and enjoy conversing with their students.

10. You will be okay.

An average GPA is no one's goal. We all strive to be the best, it's human nature. But, college is a jungle. Teaching styles are different, you have to adapt. Keep trying and strive for better. Your intelligence is not based off of that one C you received your freshman year.

Now, go end this semester with a bang!

11 Things Summer Nannies Can Relate To

There are plenty of obstacles that come when taking care of kids, but it's a very rewarding experience.

11 Things Summer Nannies Can Relate To

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

If it hurts now, it'll hurt again. Not because you're gullible or naive, only because you fall fast, hard, and you do it every time.

We fall each and every time with the complete and utter confidence that someone will be there to catch us. Now that person we SWORE we were never going to fall for has our hearts, and every time we see them our palms start sweating. The butterflies in our stomach start to soar and our hearts are entirely too close to bursting out of our chests.

10 Things Only Equestrians Understand

Yes, it IS a sport. Yes, I fall all the time. No, I do not ride in jeans with a cowgirl hat on.

Growing up I have always wanted to own a horse. My grandparents own a well known equestrian facility in Georgia, so I have been riding since I was born. A bond between a person and their horse is a bond so strong that it cannot be broken. Everywhere I went I wanted to be around horses, even forcing my family to go on trail rides during vacations. Horses have been a part of my life for as long as I can remember has taught me great responsibility, as well as 14 things that all equestrians can relate to.

College is super hard. Between working, studying, and having a social life, it feels like a struggle to just keep afloat.

I understand. When you feel like your drowning and there's no way to stay afloat I understand that it feels like everyone else is doing just fine. I understand all the frustration, long nights in the library, and that feeling that you want to just throw in the towel. I understand that sometimes it's too hard to get out of bed because your brain is already filled with too much information to remember. I understand because I am also feeling pretty burnt out.

No Matter How Challenging School Gets, You Have To Put Your Health First — A Degree Won't Mean Anything If You're Dead

Some of the best advice I've ever received was from my social studies teacher in sophomore year of high school. He stated, "If you don't know it at midnight, you're not going to know it for the 8 a.m. exam, so get some sleep."

It's such a simple piece of advice, but it holds so much accuracy and it's something that the majority of college students need to hear and listen to. "All-nighters" are a commonality on college campuses in order to cram in studying for an exam that is typically the next day.
