The real world is right around the corner... what do you fear most about it?

1. Waking up early

In college, you’re fortunate enough to make your own class schedule. The real world starts at 9 a.m. sharp – and sometimes comes with an hour commute time.

2. Wearing real people clothes

No more rolling out of bed in sweatpants and messy hair. Get ready to trade in those sweats for a full wardrobe of suits and blazers.

3. Having zero social life

Wine Wednesday? Thirsty Thursday? Not when you’ve gotta get up at 7 a.m. the next day. However, many offices will host happy hours that will definitely fulfill your social expectations.

4. Moving to a new city

Relocation can be tough, especially if you’re moving to a place you’ve never been and have no friends or family. Embrace the fact that you can start fresh in a completely new place – go out and meet people by joining a local club or volunteering. Whatever you do, avoid holing up in your apartment and workplace.

5. Buying and cooking your own meals

No more meal plan means; you’ve gotta support and cook for yourself. Goodbye all-you-can-eat dining, hello ramen diet.

6. Hating your job

It’s more common than you think. The only way to avoid this is to make sure you’re accepting a job you actually really want. If it’s not for you maybe you’re just meant to do something else.

7. No vacation time

No more fall breaks, spring breaks, or month-long Christmas holidays. Unless you become a teacher after college – perks!

8. Finding a real relationship

College hookups will become a thing of the past. After college, you’ll be expected to find a real relationship – with someone you one day might marry (talk about scary thoughts).

9. No free time

College consists of a few hours of class and studying and then free time for you to fill however you want, whether it’s a part-time job, a workout at the gym or a much-needed nap. The real world is 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. straight five days a week.

10. Sitting at a desk all day

The fear of a desk job is real. Maybe check out one of those desk bikes or even a standing desk.

7 Ways to Make Your Language More Transgender and Nonbinary Inclusive

With more people becoming aware of transgender and non-binary people, there have been a lot of questions circulating online and elsewhere about how to be more inclusive. Language is very important in making a space safer for trans and non-binary individuals. With language, there is an established and built-in measure of whether a place could be safe or unsafe. If the wrong language is used, the place is unsafe and shows a lack of education on trans and non-binary issues. With the right language and education, there can be more safe spaces for trans and non-binary people to exist without feeling the need to hide their identities or feel threatened for merely existing.

singing
Cambio

Singing is something I do all day, every day. It doesn't matter where I am or who's around. If I feel like singing, I'm going to. It's probably annoying sometimes, but I don't care -- I love to sing! If I'm not singing, I'm probably humming, sometimes without even realizing it. So as someone who loves to sing, these are some of the feelings and thoughts I have probably almost every day.
