10 Clothing Items All College Girls Should Own

I have always had a major passion for the fashion industry. I love it so much that I have chosen it for my future career. It is important for everyone to express themselves through the way they dress. However, when I came to college, I found that there were a few key basics that work with every outfit. Here are the top ten fashion basics every 20-year-old should have in college.

1. A Good Structured Jacket

There are a lot of events where the dress code is casual. But casual doesn’t mean your normal leggings and oversized t-shirt. A structured jacket (like a military jacket) can make your outfit from lazy to polished in seconds! Pair it with a T-shirt, dress or even a cute pair of leggings and boots to make any outfit acceptable for a club meeting.

2. T-Shirt Dress

This is perfect for any girl who is all about the throw-on-and-go style. From going out with your girls on a Friday night to having brunch with your boyfriends parents, this dress is classic and makes your style look effortless.

3. A Good Pair Of Tennis Shoes

This may seem like a silly pick to be on the list, but I have come to find out that this is one of the more important items! Since you virtually walk all over campus to get to your classes and occasionally work out to avoid the Freshman 15, a good pair of tennis shoes will go a long way. Get a pair you know are going to be comfortable doing anything in!

4. Nice Pair Of Leggings

Any girl knows that these days jeans are overrated. Leggings are a staple that you will wear almost every day to class (and if you are like me where going out). Invest in a good pair that is going to last for a while. It will be worth it in the long run!!

5. Game Day Dress

What better way to show your school pride than with a cute and comfortable dress! These are will keep you cool on a hot summer Caturday game day and keep you rooting for your Wildcats!

6. A Cheap (But Still Cute!) Going-Out Top

Things happen when you go out. Make sure that you wear a top you won't care about getting spilled on! Leave the cute new J Crew sweater at home and wear something else instead. Save your nice clothes for other opportunities like a potential interview!

7. A Longer Skirt

Not only are these in style and going to be a hit of fall, these skirts are perfect to wear to work, internship, or an interview. You won’t be constantly tugging at it and it will look fashionable yet professional!

8. A Vest

This maybe just a sorority thing, but vests are always in style. They are perfect to add a little extra to a sweater or keep you warm over a T-shirt when it starts to get cooler walking to class!

9. A Favorite College T-Shirt

What better way to go grab a coffee and spend all night studying in a comfy T. Having a go-to T will make your life easier when you don’t know what to wear! When in doubt, school spirit out!

10. A Plaid Shirt

Not only are these very fashion forward, they also say, “I’m the relaxed cool girl” of campus. A plaid shirt can make any outfit from frumpy to cute with minimal effort!

The most important this to remember is that style is all about expressing who you are and being comfortable. When you look good on the outside, you feel good on the inside! Cheers to another fashionable fall semester!

10 Thoughts Of A 5th Year Senior

What about those of us who don't do it all in four years?

"College will be the best four years of your life" is a phrase that we have all heard growing up. College is painted as a magical place to us while we are in high school. A place you go to learn, meet your best friends and probably have the time of your life while all of this is going down. Four whirlwind years, where everything that you've known changes and you start to learn what it means to live on your own, have a job, etc. But what about those of us who don't do this all in four years? Major changes, hard courses, switching schools, career paths changing, these are just a handful of factors that could extend your four years to five, six or seven. There is nothing wrong with taking extra time to graduate, but returning as a fifth-year is a little different. Most of your best friends have most likely graduated and moved and while you may be one of the oldest undergraduates on campus, you might feel as awkward as a freshmen. A world that became home and comfortable to you is still there but it's slightly different than you've known it to be and you have to find a groove to fall into. These are thoughts you'll have as you look ahead to returning to your college campus, with a victory lap planned.

11 Times Aubrey Plaza Described Sophomore Year

"I don't want to do things. I want to do not things."

Aubrey Plaza is one of my favorite humans in Hollywood. She's honest, blunt, unapologetic, and hilarious. I just started my sophomore year of college, and found that some of her best moments can accurately describe the start of the school year.

1. When your advisor tells you that you should declare a major soon.

2. Seeing the lost and confused freshmen and remembering that was you a short year ago, and now being grateful you know the ins and outs of the campus.

3. Going to the involvement fair to sign up for more clubs knowing that you are already too involved.

4. When you actually do the reading required for the first class.

5. Seeing your friends for the first time since last semester.

6. When you're already drowning in homework during syllabus week.

7. Realizing you don't have the same excitement for classes as you did as a freshman.

8. Going home and seeing people from high school gets weirder the older you get.

Dear Mom,

You took care of me and my brothers our entire lives and you still continue to! I will not be able to truly grasp all of the hard work that you put into this family until I create my own one day. But, I know that there are plenty of times I forgot to give you a simple thank you or an appreciative smile. I thank you for everything that you have done for me and will continue to do for me. Here are some examples of those times where you had my back and I forgot to pat your back for saving me:

College is hard. As people ages 18-22, we’re just trying to figure out what we’re doing with our lives, our careers, our eating habits, exercise routines, sleep patterns, and other necessities for adult life. We definitely don’t take proper care of ourselves; it’s basically impossible when we have essays, tests and readings due and somehow we’re supposed to eat right, exercise and sleep. We’re doomed to get sick. I have zero experience in science but when I get sick there are certain things I do to make myself better.
