10 Clear Signs You Are a Pure, Crazy, Maniacal Bookstore Addict

In This Article:

It may not have been "fun" or "cool" or "in" to be the 8-year-old kid at recess who would prefer to bring a book outside to read than play with their friends on the monkey bars, but now, in our 20's, we wish that we would have read more. Whenever I have free time, I like to pick up my Kindle Fire to find a nice book to read and to cuddle up with blankets and pillows and coffee on the couch. But no piece of technology can beat a nice old-fashioned hardcover book. With that being said, there is usually nothing better than a trip to Barnes and Noble or your local small-town bookstore for a couple of brand new popular celebrity biographies or the latest romance novel. If you seem to match with all these signs, then you may just be a pure crazy, maniacal bookstore addict.

1. When you first enter the bookstore, you don't know where to start.

Giphy

As you step through the doors to heaven, you have no idea what section you want to head to. There are so many choices. Fiction? Non-fiction? Biographies? History? Self-help? I seriously CANNOT, for the life of me, choose.

2. A coffee from the cafe really makes your experience.

Giphy

There are only a couple things in life that are better than a new hardcover in nice condition, and that includes a coffee. It really makes my experience and helps me to really delve into the fictitious world.

3. You give yourself a limit, but you can't seem to follow it.

Giphy

You mentally remind yourself that you have a strict spending limit, and you want to save up your well-earned dough for a new phone, a new laptop, or even a new car. But somehow, you still find yourself with 18 new books and a negative charge in your bank account. Oops.

4. You find yourself there for hours upon hours.

Giphy

You make a promise to yourself that you'll stay for only one hour, but you end up getting too engrossed in Tina Fey's biography and pretending that you're her, and before you know it, it's closing time.

5. The bookstore is your idea of fun.

Giphy

Yeah, I like to go out, but sometimes, you just need a break and want to spend your Friday night relaxing with a book. It's fun and intriguing to get lost in a world that's not yours, and to experience issues and struggles that are not your own.

6. The bookstore is your suggestion for when anyone is bored.

Giphy

You're sitting there with your friends. It's raining out, there's nothing good to watch on TV, and you've already watched 10 movies in a row. Of course, your suggestion is to head on over to Barnes and Noble and read all the books you can.

7. You can be found there more than once a week.

Giphy

After you purchase your new findings, you arrive home only to realize you forgot to buy the whole trilogy. You absolutely don't want it, you NEED it. You make a note to come back the next day, but then you come across a whole new series that you can't resist. So you make a plan to return yet again the next day, and so on and so forth until you've basically bought out the whole store.

8. You've dreamed of working at a bookstore.

Giphy

Can't you just imagine being able to get a discount on all those amazing books? It will save you money and that way, you can buy even more books. Also, you get paid, but the books are obviously more important.

9. You get upset when the school year starts.

Giphy

Once school starts back up again, you realize you are leaving the safety and comfort of your favorite bookstore. The nearest one to campus is an hour away, and you LITERALLY CANNOT deal.

10. During the school year, you have little to no time to read.

Giphy

Because you're constantly busy typing essays, attending classes, and participating in extracurriculars, you find that you have no time to read. Even though you have that small sliver of time before you pack it up for the night and head to bed, you can't help but scroll through social media instead. Promising yourself that you'll find even five minutes to read doesn't work out so well, either, because you'll decide to go out with friends last minute.

11 Things Summer Nannies Can Relate To

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

If it hurts now, it'll hurt again. Not because you're gullible or naive, only because you fall fast, hard, and you do it every time.

We fall each and every time with the complete and utter confidence that someone will be there to catch us. Now that person we SWORE we were never going to fall for has our hearts, and every time we see them our palms start sweating. The butterflies in our stomach start to soar and our hearts are entirely too close to bursting out of our chests.

Growing up I have always wanted to own a horse. My grandparents own a well known equestrian facility in Georgia, so I have been riding since I was born. A bond between a person and their horse is a bond so strong that it cannot be broken. Everywhere I went I wanted to be around horses, even forcing my family to go on trail rides during vacations. Horses have been a part of my life for as long as I can remember has taught me great responsibility, as well as 14 things that all equestrians can relate to.

College is super hard. Between working, studying, and having a social life, it feels like a struggle to just keep afloat.

I understand. When you feel like your drowning and there's no way to stay afloat I understand that it feels like everyone else is doing just fine. I understand all the frustration, long nights in the library, and that feeling that you want to just throw in the towel. I understand that sometimes it's too hard to get out of bed because your brain is already filled with too much information to remember. I understand because I am also feeling pretty burnt out.

No Matter How Challenging School Gets, You Have To Put Your Health First — A Degree Won't Mean Anything If You're Dead

Some of the best advice I've ever received was from my social studies teacher in sophomore year of high school. He stated, "If you don't know it at midnight, you're not going to know it for the 8 a.m. exam, so get some sleep."

It's such a simple piece of advice, but it holds so much accuracy and it's something that the majority of college students need to hear and listen to. "All-nighters" are a commonality on college campuses in order to cram in studying for an exam that is typically the next day.
