Christmas is often thought of as being a relaxing time of year, but in reality it's anything but. Gifts, money, relatives, travel, and parties, it's no wonder most of us have more than just egg nog in our glass! Here are a few holiday stresses that get the best of us!

1. Shopping for the perfect present.

We all have that one amazing person in our life that deserves an equally amazing present, the trouble is...what exactly is that perfect present? Better yet, how does one afford that perfect present when your bank account shows a grand total of $4.56.

2. Crowded malls.

Looking for that perfect present often leads one to the mall, and the mall during Christmas time is basically a level of hell. People are rude, rude, rude, and the stores are beyond crowded.

3. Shipping costs.

If you're like me, then you avoid the crowded malls, but that means you end up paying ridiculous shipping costs. It's even worse when you forget a present and have to pay close to $25 for two-day shipping...

4. Wrapping presents.

You don't want the gift to look as if a five year old wrapped it, but WHY ARE SOME GIFTS SO AWKWARDLY SHAPED!?

5. Finding an outfit for the party.

Ugly sweater parties, pajama parties, or even just fancy parties, all need a social media ready outfit, but WHICH OUTFIT?! An hour later and your room looks like a tornado hit it...and you don't even have the energy to leave the house.

6. Baking.

The perfect Christmas cookie, or at least that's what the Pinterest recipe claimed. Two hours later, and you have burnt cookies, and no Christmas spirit to be found.

7. Travel.

The Christmas season means traveling, and traveling means dealing with those rude humans that don't understand what a turn signal is.

8. Controversial topics.

Politics, divorce, the list goes on and on, and if you hit a sore topic...the fight goes on and on as well.

9. Preparing dinner.

Mashed potatoes, corn, green bean casserole, rolls, so much food, so much bickering, and for the love of carbs don't forget to cook the Christmas ham!

10. Annoying dinner talk.

"How is college?" "Got a boyfriend, yet?" "How'd finals go?" "What are your plans after college?" The questions never end. Somebody pass the wine...

Ten common holiday stresses that I'm sure even the jolliest Christmas elf has experienced. I mean there's a reason that so many bottles of wine are bought per year during the holiday season! Despite the stress Christmas truly is the most wonderful time of the year, so enjoy the candy canes, eat those cookies, and spend time with your family, oh and if it gets to be too much you can always drink a little spiked egg nog...

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.

Thanksgiving break is over and Christmas is just around the corner and that means, for most college students, one hellish thing — finals week. It's the one time of year in which the library becomes over populated and mental breakdowns are most frequent. There is no way to avoid it or a cure for the pain that it brings. I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.
