10 Things All College Students Need For Christmas

The Christmas season is upon us, which means we will soon be shopping for the perfect gifts to surprise our loved ones with. Even though the best gifts a college student can receive are a home-cooked meal, good grades, and the sweet relief of another completed semester, here are 10 gift ideas to get for a hard-working college student this Christmas:

1. Gift Cards

Even though the idea of buying someone a gift card for Christmas sounds boring and impersonal, a college student will be forever grateful. Students are always eager for extra money for textbooks, an outside meal, or even groceries. Some gift card ideas include Amazon, Starbucks, iTunes or Domino's Pizza.

2. A Good Book

College Students spend the semester reading textbooks and articles that are not very fun to read. A great gift for a college student that enjoys reading is a good book to read for pleasure, or a book that will inspire or motivate them.

3. Warm Clothing

When college students go back to school for the Spring Semester, it will be January, which means they will be walking to class in the cold and rain. Depending on their style, a perfect gift for a student could be a warm pair of socks or mittens, a scarf, a warm hat, a sweatshirt, or a pair of rain boots.

4. Headphones or Earbuds

A pair of noise-cancelling headphones or quality earbuds could help a college student greatly. Whether they use them to play classical music to concentrate on studying or to play their favorite music after a stressful day, you can't go wrong with this gift.

5. A Trip or Mini Vacation

Many students prefer experiences over material gifts. You can gift these college students a camping trip to Yosemite National Park, concert tickets to their favorite band, or a weekend in Disneyland!

6. Agenda/Journal

The minds of students are an unorganized mess. Many of us have more responsibilities on top of studying for school. This is why it's a good idea to get a student a well-organized agenda so they can keep track of their activities. An alternative to this is a journal, which is always a good tool for writing down thoughts and blowing off steam.

7. Coffee Mug

What fuels the college student? Coffee! Even if the student doesn't enjoy coffee, they most likely enjoy a warm cup of hot cocoa or tea. There are many creative coffee mugs you can gift a college student so they can sip their hot beverage comfortably!

8. Self-care items

Many times students are so occupied that they forget to re-purchase simple items such as shower gels, makeup, or lotion. What a relief it will be when they remember the self-care items their friend or family gave them for Christmas!

9. Snacks

A decorated box or basket filled with the student's favorite study snacks is a perfect gift that can be personalized. Some things to add include coffee/tea, popcorn, granola bars, chips, and trail mix. Also adding some homemade cookies wouldn't hurt!

10. Backpack

Chances are, the student already has a backpack that has gone through rainy walks to class, a ton of books, and many years of schooling. However, it wouldn't hurt to purchase a new quality backpack for the student to enjoy.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
