School is done. May has arrived. And if you're like me, you're frantically still looking for employment over the summer. The search for a job is a long, arduous journey, but it also leaves you with a ton of free time on your hands to the point where you have no idea what to do with it all. (Me in a nutshell these days.) I like to call it "May Limbo," and if you're stuck in it like me, here are some suggestions to bring you out of the doldrums.
Sleep
It might seem obvious, but finals week is like a monster that takes away all of your precious hours of sawing logs. Turn off that alarm clock. Close those blinds. Get the extra hours you deserve because you survived your semester and now nothing stands between you and sleeping in.
Netflix
I realize that many of you probably did not have to cut Netflix out of your daily schedules already, but in my case, I almost never got to watch Netflix since I was so busy all the time. Make some snacks, curl up in a blanket, and find yourself a show that will make the day pass.
Exercise
I know you all are thinking "ew gross exercise I just wanna sit around and be lazy all the time now that I'm done school for the semester" yeah well guess what: working out is one of the best time killers that I know. You could easily spend two hours exercising and you're spending your time by doing something that's good for you.
Laundry
Nobody likes doing laundry. That's a simple fact. However, you probably have an enormous pile of dirty clothes in the corner of your room and your sheets haven't seen the washing machine since snow was on the ground...or the temperature got colder I dunno sometimes the snow doesn't apply to people. There's a refreshing feeling about having clean clothes, and don't get me started on the euphoria that is clean sheets.
Spring Cleaning
Another thing that people generally don't like doing, but similarly to laundry, I bet your room is a mess and having a clean room would be pretty nice. It's not as fun as watching Netflix but you'll thank me later.
Sleep
Because I really can't stress how incredible being able to sleep more is.
Cook
I've been on a real streak lately of watching cooking shows on TV, and even though I possess a fraction of the skills these TV chefs have, it still inspires me to want to cook and experiment with different foods and spices and whatnot. If that didn't sell you, you get to eat, what's not to like.
Road Trip
Maybe it's grandma. Maybe it's your friend from summer camp. Whoever it is, you probably have enough time to leave wherever you're at and go visit them for a couple days. I know my grandma always appreciates when I drop in, so yours probably does too.
Art
I'll be the first to admit that my art skills aren't anything that you'll see in the Louvre one day, but sometimes just drawing stuff is a good way to distract yourself from the seemingly endless amount of time you have on your hands.
Sleep
Did I say sleep yet?
Whatever you decide on doing to kill time, it's definitely better than doing nothing.
