As the temperature drops and we all bust out the heavy coast and gloves, we all know the inevitable. Winter in practically here. Starbucks has hot chocolate and all the shopping malls are playing Mariah Carey. In this beginning and also peak of the winter season, there is a bunch of us that are counting down the days until summer returns once again, bringing the warm sun and surprises with it. As an avid reader, I use books as a way to escape my current situation or to go to a world that seems so far away in that moment, like how Summer seems so far away right now. So for those who can not wait for summer to come, this is my early Christmas gift to you. These are 10 books that embody the summer season and what unfolds during this time.

1. "The Summer I Turned Pretty" Trilogy by Jenny Han

To Belly, summers were always the highlight of the year. Her family always went to her mom's best friend,Susannah's, beach house. Belly always looked forward to seeing Susannah and her two sons, Jerimiah and Conrad. Belly loves Summer. Everything is magical during summer. But this one summer everything changes.

2. "The Moon and More" by Sarah Dessen


Luke was Emaline's perfect boyfriend. They dated through high school in their small beach town. But the summer before they go to college, Emaline might if perfect is good enough. Along comes Theo, An ambisious guy from New York who is assisting on a documentary film about a local artist. With this, along with stress from her biological father, Emaline is struggling to find what she truly wants. This is going to be a long summer.

3. "We Were Liars" by E. Lockahrt


Cadence Sinclair is seventeen. She's had an accident she can't remember, and she's left with crippling migraines. She tells us about different account of her past and current summers at her family's private island in Vermont. We learn of her tragic past, her family history, and how one summer changed her life forever.

4. "Second Chance Summer" by Morgan Matson


Taylor Edwards spent her summer, as a child, at the Poconos Mountains. But in her early teens she escaped her problems, thinking she would never come back. But years later, a family tragity brought her back to their mountain house and now Taylor with have to face what she left behind.

5. "This One Summer" by Mariko Tamaki


This graphic novel follows Rose and her summer at their lake house in Awago Beach. We see her witness her familial problems and struggle to discover her self over this one summer.


6. "Along for the Ride" by Sarah Dessen

Auden West never sleeps at night. Ever Since her parents divorce she was an isomniac. It is the summer before Auden goes to college and she has agreed to spend it at her father's beachfront home in the tiny town of Colby. This is where she meet Eli, a fellow insomniac, and he shows her what she has been missing out with her strict, sheltered lifestyle.

7. "Whispers to Me" by Nick Lake


Cassie writes a letter to the boy whose heart she broke. She tries to explain herself and why she did the things she did. Why she completely fell apart. She is hoping that Love can save things.

8. "This is What Happy Looks Like" by Jennifer E. Smith

An accidental email connects a teen movie star in California and small town girl from Maine. They strike up a pleasant and unforgettable conversations, discussing everything and anything, well except for their names and where they come from..


9. "My Life Next Door" by Huntley Fitzpatrick

Jase Garrett's family is everything that Samantha Reed's family is not, Affectionate, unorganized, spontaneous. Samantha long to be one of them. then one summer night Jase Garrett climbs over the fence that separates them and changes everything.

10. "Amy and Rogers's Epic Detour" by Morgan Matson

A family tragity and a car accident have left amy terrified of being in a car, let alone driving. But with her family moving across the country, Amy will have face her fears. Also she has to taek this trip with a family friend, she hasnt seen in years.

I think the hardest thing about going away to college is figuring out how to become an adult. Leaving a household where your parents took care of literally everything (thanks, Mom!) and suddenly becoming your own boss is overwhelming. I feel like I'm doing a pretty good job of being a grown-up, but once in awhile I do something that really makes me feel like I'm #adulting. Twenty-somethings know what I'm talking about.

I went to a small high school, like 120-people-in-my-graduating-class small. It definitely had some good and some bad, and if you also went to a small high school, I’m sure you’ll relate to the things that I went through.

1. If something happens, everyone knows about it

Who hooked up with whom at the party? Yeah, heard about that an hour after it happened. You failed a test? Sorry, saw on Twitter last period. Facebook fight or, God forbid, real fight? It was on half the class’ Snapchat story half an hour ago. No matter what you do, someone will know about it.

Chandler Bing

I'm assuming that we've all heard of the hit 90's TV series, Friends, right? Who hasn't? Admittedly, I had pretty low expectations when I first started binge watching the show on Netflix, but I quickly became addicted.

Without a doubt, Chandler Bing is the most relatable character, and there isn't an episode where I don't find myself thinking, Yup, Iam definitely the Chandler of my friend group.

Working with the public can be a job, in and of itself. Some people are just plain rude for no reason. But regardless of how your day is going, always having to be in the best of moods, or at least act like it... right?

1. When a customer wants to return a product, hands you the receipt, where is printed "ALL SALES ARE FINAL" in all caps.

2. Just because you might be having a bad day, and you're in a crappy mood, doesn't make it okay for you to yell at me or be rude to me. I'm a person with feelings, just like you.

3. People refusing to be put on hold when a customer is standing right in front of you. Oh, how I wish I could just hang up on you!

RBF, or resting b*tch face, is a serious condition that many people suffer from worldwide. Suffers are often bombarded with daily questions such as "Are you OK?" and "Why are you so mad?" If you have RBF, you've probably had numerous people tell you to "just smile!"

While this question trend can get annoying, there are a couple of pros to having RBF.
