10 Blessings You Proably Overlooked This Morning

Good News! You, my friend, are blessed.

It's typical. We wake up, we rush to get where we are, and we tend not to stop and look at all we have. Worse, yet, we tend not to look at what we do not have. I bet if you were out of milk it would have ruined the whole morning. Getting late to where you were going would have been even worse, but, wow, we were blessed this morning and I bet we didn’t even notice it.

1. The Sky

Whether the sky was blue, cloudy, or even full of rain. How magnificent it is to look at. Those beautiful colors all sitting there, just God’s gift to you. Oh, and I haven’t even mentioned the sun rise. Face it friend, God already blessed you so much just with his gift of the sky, and I haven’t even begun to count all the material things yet!

2.Your breakfast, or the fact you knew you had a meal coming.

Maybe you grabbed a granola bar, maybe even a bowl of cereal. Double points, if you were able to have some pancakes with bacon! Maybe, you chose not to eat at all, because you could just wait until lunch. But, I bet you didn’t know that 66 million kids in the world went to school hungry today, and don’t know where their next meal will come from. Having food is such a blessing we tend to overlook.

3. The people around you.

You woke up, went to class, work, or wherever, and I bet you saw someone along the way you knew. I bet, you had someone smile at you. You may have even had a great laugh with a friend! Whatever it was, you are so terribly blessed to have the people around you.

4.The holy spirit

Did you know that after Jesus left he sent his holy spirit down just to be with us? We now have a friend with us at all times, if we chose to let him in our heart. Better yet, the lord is here to fill our souls with happiness and love and guide you every step of the way.

Luke 24:49 states:

"“And now I will send the Holy Spirit, just as my Father promised."

We never have to be alone and we are never forsaken. Praise the lord for the Holy Spirit. Can I get an Amen??

5. You have freedom to choose what you believe.

You might have a church you go to. You may have many churches you will never ever want to walk into. Whatever you believe, isn’t it great that you can? http://www.wnd.com/2011/06/311393/

With every five minutes that pass, a Christian is killed is killed somewhere in the world, crazy isn’t it?

6. You were given free education at some point

I think we all have been at the point where we say, “ I don’t want to have to go to school” or, “I can’t believe I have to study.” https://www.theguardian.com/education/2010/sep/20/70m-get-no-education

70 million kids in the world are left without education, much less college. Thus, giving them no hope and no future. I hope us Americans can realize it is not “ I have to go to school, but I get to go to school.”

7. Your bed this morning.

Odds are, we woke up in a bed, with some kind of roof over our heads. It was probably hard to get out of the bed because we were so warm and comfortable. Some people in this world would give everything just to have that.

8. Clothes, and plenty of them…

We all have said these famous words “I have nothing to wear!” Actually, the majority of the people around the world have one change of clothes and they're happy to have just those two shirts! So that closet filled with clothes is so amazing to have.

9. Indoor Plumbing

No, but, really, what a blessing indoor plumbing is...

10. Oh and if you can get a job making minimum wage you're at the top three percent of the world

No, really. If you can get a job making minimum wage you’ll make 34,000 a year, if you work the average 40 hours a week, thus, making you in the top one percent of the world by your wealth. Congratulations, friend! You’re rich!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
