We're already a few weeks into the Fall season, which means all of our TV favorites are starting up new seasons. Here are just a few of my recommendations if you're on the look out for some binge-worthy shows.
Supernatural
This show is all about the supernatural. Ghosts, vampires, angels, demons; you name it, and they have it. It follows the story of two brothers whose lives are deeply entangled with the supernatural as they try to protect those who don't know the truth about their world. "Saving people, hunting things...the family business." Sometimes outrageously funny, scary, and deep, you are sure to fall for this show (and the Winchester brothers).
The 100
This show really touches the hearts of any sci-fi fanatic. It follows the tale of 100 teenage delinquents who are sent back to Earth to see if it's survivable after the human race has been living in space for over a century after a nuclear fallout. Is the once radiation-ridden Earth survivable? Yes. Are they alone? No. Get wrapped in this show and prepare for a lot of action, angst, and drama of the sci-fi variety.
Empire
This is show has spurred a big following, gaining a large new viewership each episode it aired during its first season - something that hadn't been done. It follows the story of a black family that owns and performs for their recording label Empire. Three brothers fight for their father's throne - one gay, one with bipolar disorder, and another with a bloated ego - to continue the Lyon family legacy. But what happens when mom - after serving 17 years in prison - gets back in the picture to stir things up? Drama ensues, of course. This show has a killer soundtrack, and stands in a league of its own. Watch it!
This Is Us
Now, this show is still only a few weeks in to its first season, and it's already such a treat. It follows the lives of all the people you see pictured above. It holds such vivid emotion and is easy to relate to, which is why I can't wait to see how this show develops. Oh, and the first episode has a twist that you'll never see coming. Here's a hint: all of these people are connected somehow, but maybe not in the way you may expect.
Grey's Anatomy
Ah, yes. The show that never ends. Also the show that everyone knows about (even if they don't watch it). It follows Meredith Grey and her fellow doctors as they navigate as interns, residents, and attendings at Seattle Grace Hospital. Needless to say, a lot of pining, love, and sex is involved. Also hospital drama. Sob stories. Unforgivable character deaths. Lovable characters (that sometimes just leave and you wish they'd come back). Watch this show. Yes, it's on season 13, but it's worth it to binge. If anything, McDreamy and McSteamy are nice eye candy if that's incentive enough for you.
The Walking Dead
Zombies. What more could you want from a show? As you can imagine, this show follows a group a people as they navigate the zombie apocalypse and struggle to survive. Surprisingly enough, it's the people they meet that can cause more trouble than the Walkers biting at their heels. Suspense, betrayal, family, friendship, love, etc. If you have a thing for post-apocalyptic settings, this is your kind of show.
Criminal Minds
Ever wonder what it's like to get inside a serial killer's head? Well here you go. Criminal Minds follows the FBI's behavorial analysis unit as they track down killers by psycho-analyzing their every move. All of these characters are well-developed and unique, and it's interesting to watch from the killer's POV every once in a while. Though a lot of the time it's sick and twisted, if you love crime investigation shows, this is sure to be your cup of tea.
How To Get Away With Murder
Criminal defense lawyers that commit murder themselves? That's certainly a twist. Follow these law students as they and their teacher, Annalise Keating, use their skills to, quite literally, get away with murder. The characters are all unique - some you love to hate, and hate to love - and sworth getting invested in. It's sure to leave your head spinning to find out what happens next!
Mr. Robot
An introverted hacker with social anxiety living in a world with the top 1% feeding off of the lower class. What happens when a hacking group, fsociety, convinces him to take matters into his own hands and hack the biggest multibillion dollar corporation in order to give back to the people - no debt, no capitalism, no worries. But Elliot has a lot more on his plate than just a worldwide revolution. No. Mr. Robot has big plans for him. This show really captures hacking culture and brings it to life. Also, Elliot, played by Rami Malek, is an amazing character worth getting to know. This show pushes boundaries and has such a unique presence like no other show I've ever seen on screen. Give it a try!
Once Upon A TimeThis show gives a whole new meaning to all the fairy tale and Disney character we grew up with as kids. When the Evil Queen sets a curse upon all the characters in the Enchanted Forest, they are all sent to the real world with no memory of who they are. Only Emma - the daughter of Prince Charming and Snow White - can break the curse. The problem is, will she believe? This story checks off and twists all kinds of stories in way I never thought possible. From Red Riding Hood, all the way to Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, there is a little bit of everything for everyone. Once upon a time a person like you should have been watching Once Upon A Time.
Again, these are a list of shows I thoroughly enjoy. If even one catches your eye - which I know that there's quite a variety here, so at least one has to be up your alley - make time to watch it. Who knows? You might stumble upon something you never knew you'd ever fall in love with, and characters that will stay with you for years to come. So happy Fall everyone, and happy binging!
