The world is a cruel, dark place. It feeds us lies and beats us down. It seems like we have no hope, but the Word of God says otherwise.
We have hope because God loves us so much that He would send His Son to die on the cross for our sake. In Him, we have life, we can be loved, and we can love others.
Here are ten great verses speaking on God's love!
1. Psalms 100:5
"For the Lord is good; His steadfast love endures forever, and His faithfulness to all generations."
His love is perfect to us in all ways. He is faithful to us forever.
2. Romans 5:8
"But God shows His love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us."
Jesus loves us so much, that even in the midst of our sin and shame and guilt and pain, He died on the cross for us.
"But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ- by grace you have been saved-"
We were spiritually dead in our sin, but because of God's love and grace, we have been saved.
4. John 3:16
"For God so loved the world, that He gave His only Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life."
The reason why Jesus died on the cross was so that mankind, through belief in Him, could live forever in heaven.
"For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord."
This incredible love of God will never be broken. Nothing can come in between us and this love.
"So that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith- that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may have strength to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fullness of God."
This love is so immeasurable that we as humans cannot even comprehend it. Let us be filled by this love.
7. John 15:13
"Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends."
Sacrifice is the ultimate example of how we should love. The love of God is displayed by Christ's sacrifice on the cross for mankind.
8. 1 John 4:19
"We love because He first loved us."
The reason we can love one another is because God first showed His love for us when Christ died on the cross bearing our sins.
"I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me."
God's love should so radically change us that we no longer live selfishly but live for the sake of Christ.
"Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never ends."
God's love is the answer to all. It is where we have life.
