As a college student, I understand physical weariness. I go to bed at midnight or later every night and wake up at 7 every morning. A little caffeine can jumpstart a weary morning but what can stir a weary spirit? Jesus can. Reading your Bible is crucial, even when you don’t feel like reading, and it is especially important when you feel worn down and weary. So, if you are feeling tired of giving your all, being let down, pouring into others, or carrying the burdens of this world, do not despair! God has some comforting words for you:

1. Exodus 14:14

All we need to do is sit quietly and watch God work. How amazing is that?

2. 2 Chronicles 20:15

How comforting to know that it’s not in our control to fight our own battles. It is up to God to fight our battles and carry our burdens.

3. Nehemiah 8:10

Our strength does not come from us, but rather, from God and his blessings. He is our source of strength and he will never run out.

4. Psalm 61:2

We need not be afraid when we feel overwhelmed because God is so much bigger than any of our problems! He is in control and he does not change even in the midst of our changing circumstances.

5. Isaiah 40:31

Just hope in the Lord! When we set our sights on God and our heavenly reward, suddenly earthly troubles don’t seem so bad anymore.

6. Matthew 11:28

When we are weary and the weight of this world seems like too much to carry, we can go to God and lay our burdens at his feet as he takes up our troubles for us.

7. Romans 8:18

What a great promise! Despite all of our troubles and suffering now, the things of this earth cannot compare to the glory and joy of heaven.

8. Romans 12:11

Despite being weary, we can get our strength from God and continue to serve and work hard for his purpose. When God leads us, we cannot become weary.

9. Galatians 6:9

Keep on doing good for God! Even when you’re tired and want to stop, the reward, the “joy that is coming,” is so worth it! Don’t lose heart!

10. Philippians 1:6

God is doing great things in you, and he will not let it all fall apart in the middle even if you feel incapable of continuing. God will provide all you need to complete the works for his glory.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.
