The Bible can be healing, comfortable and safe for people searching for direction. When I am anxious, scared, discouraged or feel defeated, I tend to turn to the word of the Lord for guidance and comfort. The following 10 bible verses are my favorite for when I need a reminder of God’s love and His plan.

1. John 13:7

“Jesus answered and said to him, ‘What I am doing you do not understand now, but you will know after this.’”

2. Psalm 94:19

“When anxiety was great within me, your consolation brought joy to my soul.”

3. Matthew 6:25-26

“Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing? Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?”

4. 2 Timothy 1:7

“For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.”

5. John 12:46

“‘I have come as a light into the world, that whoever believes in Me should not abide in darkness.”

6.Romans 8:38

“And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow — not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love.”

7. Isaiah 40:8

“The grass withers, the flower fades, but the word of our God stands forever.”

8. Philippians 4: 6-7

“Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.”

9. Psalm 56:3

“When I am afraid, I put my trust in you.”

10. Matthew 6:34

“Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.”

I know it is difficult to see the point or reason behind your actions or behind the actions of others at times. But I promise you will find it, and you are not alone in your search. Lean on His word, and trust His plan. May He grant you courage to accomplish whatever it is you are struggling with.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.
