Being a single woman requires patience. A lot of it. You may pray and pray for God to send you a man and get frustrated when He doesn't.

You may try to take matters into your own hands and seek after a man that you want, but whom God did not choose for you. This never ends well. God's will for your life is perfect. While it can be difficult to wait, it is oh so important that we give our lives to God, allowing Him to direct our paths. God knows what is best and His timing is perfect. So while you may be tired of seeing your friends post on social media about their relationships and weddings, do not lose hope. God knows what He is doing. Often our times of waiting are times of preparation for what God has in store for our future. God does not promise any of us husbands, but He will always give us what is best for us. So be patient.

Seek after God first and foremost because our relationship with Him is so much better and more fulfilling than any earthly relationship we will ever be in.

Here are some verses of encouragement as you patiently wait on the Lord.

1. Matthew 6:33

With your eyes on God, there is no doubt that He will provide you with everything and everyone you need. Seek him above everything else.

2. Galatians 5:16

God's plan is so much better than our earthly desires. If we walk according to His plan, we will not succumb to the temptations of the world and of our own flesh.

3. James 1:17

A spouse is a gift from God and only He can provide us with the perfect partner. We cannot find our spouse on our own.

4. Proverbs 3:5

While it may be hard at times, we must trust in God and His ability to know what is best for our lives, even if we think that we know better.

5. 1 John 5:14

When you pray for a relationship, God hears you. Always. We can be confident that He will hear our pleading and requests.

6. Psalm 107:9

God will bless us with good things in His timing, not ours. All things work for His good.

7. Psalm 27:14

Be patient. Do not get discouraged when things do not go according to your will or timing. God knows what He's doing.

8. Matthew 21:22

Continue to pray feverently for your future spouse. Asking God to send you who He knows you need, not who you think you need or want.

9. Jeremiah 29:11

God has a plan. His plan will help you, not hurt you. Trust in God's plan for your future.

10. Isaiah 30:21

Ask God to show you His will and walk in it, even if it goes against what you see as fit for your life. His will is perfect and your waiting is part of His plan. Trust His will.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

"A Christmas Story" is the star on top of the tree.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

One staple of the Christmas season is sitting around the television watching a Christmas movie with family and friends. But of the seemingly hundreds of movies, which one is the star on the tree? Some share stories of Santa to children ("Santa Claus Is Coming to Town"), others want to spread the Christmas joy to adults ("It's a Wonderful Life"), and a select few are made to get laughs ("Elf"). All good movies, but merely ornaments on the Christmas tree of the best movies. What tops the tree is a movie that bridges the gap between these three movies, and makes it a great watch for anyone who chooses to watch it. Enter the timeless Christmas classic, "A Christmas Story." Created in 1983, this movie holds the tradition of capturing both young and old eyes for 24 straight hours on its Christmas Day marathon. It gets the most coverage out of all holiday movies, but the sheer amount of times it's on television does not make it the greatest. Why is it,
then? A Christmas Story does not try to tell the tale of a Christmas miracle or use Christmas magic to move the story. What it does do though is tell the real story of Christmas. It is relatable and brings out the unmatched excitement of children on Christmas in everyone who watches. Every one becomes a child again when they watch "A Christmas Story."

It’s here; that time of year when college students turn into preschoolers again. We cry for our mothers, eat everything in sight, and whine when we don’t get our way.
