The 10 Best Things About Your Best Friend
People's Choice

We all have that one friend who understands us more than anything. They laugh at our jokes (even if they're not funny) and help us when we need it the most. Most importantly, they understand you better than anybody else. Whether it's about the stupid boy who won't text you back or the stupid thing you saw on the internet that you just NEED to show them, they get it and that's why they're your best friend. We all have our person that helps us through anything and they mean the world to us even though we want to kill them 99.9% of the time.

1. The first moment we realize that this person is probably our soulmate and that we need to inform them about every aspect of our life.

2. When you come up with a seemingly horrible idea or plan, but they support you no matter what the stakes (even if you'll both probably end up in jail).

3. Feeling absolutely crazy about something you did, but they do all the same things you do.

4. When you overhear them calling somebody else their best friend, and you feel like they're betraying you on some level.

5. When you're trying to explain your bond to other people, but nobody really understands why you're so close.

6. Being able to explain how you actually feel about a boy and not having to sugar coat everything so you don't sound nuts.

7. Getting over a fight and realizing how stupid everything truly was when you decide to apologize.

8. When you don't see your best friend in over a week and you finally get to see their face again.

9. When you two are way too close, and all your other friends basically consider you more of a couple than you and your significant other.

10. The greatest thing about your best friend is being able to go to them after a long day and just knowing they'll always be there for you no matter how serious, dumb, or small the problem at hand is.

Best friends are basically a gift to us, they're normally better then our significant others and have us laughing until we can't breathe. Without our soulmates we wouldn't be who we are and would most likely be crazy or in jail. At least with them by our sides we have a cellmate to laugh with us about all the crazy things we did that night or cry with us when it's just been a rough day. Best friends are the most important people to be placed in our lives because we finally have a person who understands why we do what we do. At the end of the day, don't forget to give your best friend a hug or a high five if their the friend that hates being touched, and thank them for continuously supporting you in everything you do no matter how extreme it probably is.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs.
