It's hard to believe it's been almost a decade since the romantic comedy, "She's the Man,' made it's debut. An adaptation of William Shakespeare's "Twelfth Night," featuring the queen of ROM COMS, Amanda Bynes as well as the beloved Channing Tatum, you know it must be good. Although not many people can say they've impersonated their twin brother in order to play soccer and prove their worth, entangling themselves in a web of complicated relationships, there is much to be learned from this quotable film, even today.
1. "Remember, inside of every girl, there's a boy...That came out wrong"
Equality is obviously important. Paul for the win.
2. "You're the man. Yes I am!"
You can't put a price on the value of a pep talk.
3. "I'm allergic to the sun"
Viola taught us how to lie on the spot.
4. "You know, it's crazy...how wrong you can be about a person"
We misjudge others all the time. Sometimes, you think you have someone figured out, and they do something to make you realize you misjudged their character.
5. "If you wanna chase your dreams sometimes you gotta break the rules"
Although having your twin sister impersonate you at the start of a new school, while you sneak off to London for two weeks to play music was not this boy's brightest idea, Sebastian definitely took a risk to pursue his dream. And sometimes you have to take your chances to do what you love. If you take zero action, you won't get anywhere.
6. "Heels are a male invention designed to make a woman's butt look smaller. And to make it harder for them to run away"
Probably the best line of the entire film.
7. "So...do you like cheese?"
Everyone experiences awkward conversations. Sometimes your nerves just get the best of you. It's unavoidable.
8. "When I close my eyes I see you for what you truly are...which is UGLY!"
If someone's not beautiful on the inside, their outer beauty is pretty meaningless.
9. "I don't know. I just think that relationships should be more than just the physical stuff"
Duke's words of wisdom prove he is a man of substance.
10. "Voila, darling, remember, chew like you have a secret"
Much can be learned from Cheryl. You don't need to be a debutante in training to know that table manners are important to have.
