Disclaimer, there have been numerous films made in the Northwest. However, these are my personal favorites.
1. The Twilight Saga
Need I say more?
2. "Dante's Peak"
Filmed in Wallace, Idaho, this is a great movie about a dormant volcano that leaves quite a bit of destruction after it's waking.
3. "Enough"
"Enough" was filmed in three different metropolitan cities, San Francisco, Los Angeles, and Seattle. It follows Jennifer Lopez' character through her attempts to escape domestic violence with her young daughter. Definitely, recommend.
4. "10 Things I Hate About You"
If you love Heath Ledger, this movie is for you. Filmed in various locations around Seattle and Tacoma, is a great rom-com that is a must see.
5. "The Ring"
I'm not much of a horror film fan, however, "The Ring" was not only filmed partially in Bellingham, but also a few locations in Oregon.
6. "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest"
Not only was the novel written by Oregon native Ken Kesey, but the film included Oregon State Hospital in Salem, and the central Oregon Coast. This movie was filmed in 1975 so it is older, however, Jack Nicholson's performance was phenomenal as the main character McMurphy.
7. "Stand By Me"
Filmed in 1986 in Brownsville, Oregon, this coming of age film shows the story of four boys who go into the woods to find the body of a local boy who had gone missing after hearing about the general location, along the way they learn to stand up for what is right.
8. "A River Runs Through It"
Starring Brad Pitt, this movie was filmed in various locations in Montana. This feel-good movie draws out the life of two brothers who lead vastly different lives but find their way back to what they love, fly fishing.
9. "Napoleon Dynamite"
The famous "Napoleon Dynamite" was filmed in Idaho in 2004.
10. "The Goonies"
"The Goonies" was filmed in Astoria, Oregon, a group of misfits set out to find the ancient treasure, but find much more than they anticipated.
