The Netflix show-binge is a cultural phenomenon that we have probably all taken part in. With so many shows on Netflix to watch, it's hard to know which ones are worth the binge. Fortunately for you, I have compiled this list for that reason exactly. These are some of the best Netflix originals, ranked by the opinion of yours truly.
10. "Beasts of No Nation"
Idris Elba plays a fierce African warlord who trains a young orphan to fight in his group of guerrilla soldiers. This Netflix film is a visually pleasing story of overwhelming violence and both the people causing it and the ones affected by it.
9. "Lady Dynamite"
Comedian Maria Bamford plays a fictionalized version of herself in this autobiographical comedy. Breaking the fourth wall at times, the show fuses comedy with mental health in both personal and light-hearted ways.
8. Marvel's "Jessica Jones"
Original Marvel shows on Netflix are becoming an actual thing, and Jessica Jones fits the part perfectly. The show is made with its dark aesthetics and entertaining story lines for Jones.
7. Marvel's "Daredevil"
This new show has great storytelling, impressive cinematography, and good acting. Superhero fans and nonfans a like would enjoy the show's attention to quality.
6. "John Mulaney: The Comeback Kid"
Mulaney's experience writing for Saturday Night Live is wonderfully evident in his new stand-up special. The comedian knows how to develop jokes like no other, and "The Comeback Kid" brought many laughs out loud from this viewer.
5. "Master of None"
Comedian Aziz Ansari plays 30 year old Dev in this new comedy-drama. The show creates a hilarious and intimate portrayal of dating in the 21st century.
4. "Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt"
Tina Fey's new comedy features the same amount of spit-fire jokes found in 30 Rock, and it is most appreciated by fans. Schmidt has a charming and unique cast of characters along with a collection of jokes not to be outdone easily.
3. "Orange is the New Black"
Orange is a witty and addicting portrayal of a women's prison seen first through the eyes of the main character Piper Chapman, and then through the eyes of characters that other shows would've just passed by. The brilliance of Orange is that every major and minor character has a story that you would want to watch a show about, and we get to travel through each of them with just one binge.
2. "House of Cards"
House of Cards has it all. Suspense, action, romance, lies, betrayal all play out in this smartly crafted and aesthetically-pleasing show. The story centers on US Representative Frank Underwood, his wife Claire, and their bloodthirsty quest to become the President and First Lady of the US.
1. "Love"
Judd Apatow's new romantic comedy is a quirky, smart, and charming story of the messy love lives of the almost-horrendous people named Gus and Mickey. Netflix has already green-lighted a second season, so get your binge on with this hilarious and honest storytelling.
