The 2000's were a time of horrible fashion trends, cliques, and amazing chick flicks. You probably haven't watched a lot of these in a while because you forgot how amazing they are. These are the 10 best chick flicks of the 2000's. Or maybe we could change that to the 10 best movies of the 2000's or is that too optimistic?
1. "The Princess Diaries"
This movie has the most iconic transformation in movie history. When Paolo introduced the new and improved Mia, my jaw dropped. Or when she kissed Josh Bryant and her foot popped. And when she ended up with her best friends brother and showed up to the ball soaking wet after her car broke down. Honestly, who doesn't want to be Princess Amelia Mignonette Grimaldi Thermopiles Renaldo?
2. "She's The Man"
Not only was this before Amanda Bynes went off the deep end but she won our hearts when she put that tampon up her nose. This is a classic flick about soccer that trumps the always good "Bend It Like Beckham" only because Channing Tatum shirtless is a godsend.
3. "The Lizzie McGuire Movie"
If you have not dreamed of going to Rome on a school trip and meeting your pop star doppelganger and a really hot boy, well, then your dreams kind of suck. Every young teenager girl wanted to be Lizzie McGuire and for good reason. She not only played two characters in the movie (which to this day whenever someone plays a twin in a movie but it's only one person, I can not get over it. It's just so cool.) she also sings some killer songs. I am jealous of Lizzie McGuire, honestly, I am.
4. "John Tucker Must Die"
No words. This movie has been on my DVR since nam. The cast is brilliant, each girl has a super clique and distinct personality and John Tucker is the ultimate f***boy. Also, Ashanti is in it and their outfits are so 2000's it's cringeworthy.
5. "A Cinderella Story"
Everybody wants their own Nomad. When Chad Michael Murray didn't realize that it was Hillary Duff under that tiny face mask we were all a little confused. But shoutout to Diner girl for landing Austin Ames and going to Princeton. Claps for you Hillary Duff. Your Cinderella life is literally every 13-year-old girl's dream.
6. "Mean Girls"
Is it October 13th? Because Mean Girls is such a 2000's classic chick flick. This movie was loosely based on my high school. No big deal or anything. Gretchen, Regina, Cady, Aaron, Karen, Ms. Norbury and most of all Glen Coco thank you for making a hilarious movie about bitches. If your dad invented the toaster strudel you may not like this one but it's so fetch, I can tell you that much.
7. "How To Lose A Guy In 10 Days"
What a duo. They have been in some good movies together but this one is just stellar. They are both trying to win a bet but seamlessly fall in love. What more could you want from a chick flick? This may not be the first movie that comes to mind when you think 2000's chick flick. But this is my article and I think this movie is amazing, and I know you do too.
8. "13 Going On 30"
If you didn't learn how to do the Thriller dance after this, you obviously didn't idolize Jennifer Gardiner like I did. In reality, I would far prefer being 13 to being 30 but whatever. When Matty took the pictures for Jenna's magazine rebranding idea it was heartwarming. And when they ate Razzles together and reminisced about being 13, I would like to talk to the director because good job, bro. This movie is a solid pick for any movie night.
9. "Love Actually"
British people. Love. Keira Knightley. Those posters that Rick from "The Walking Dead" showed to Keira Knightly while pretending he was random carolers. That little girl who murdered Mariah Carey's "All I Want For Christmas Is You." I could go on and on. Everything about this movie is good. Oh my god when Colin Firth proposed. I gotta stop. You know how good it is.
10. "The Notebook"
*sees Ryan Gosling* *sobs* *drowns in tears* *quotes the "what do you want" scene* *watches the old couple die together* *dies themselves* That's how it usually goes. Classic. Wow.
You can never go wrong with watching a chick flick and these are only a few of the classics. Thank you 2000's for giving us such great movies. Which one do you guys think I should watch right now? I think "The Princess Diaries" is the move.
