If you have ever been to DC, you will know that brunch is not only a common occurrence, but a way of life. If you're not going to brunch on a Sunday in DC, you're just not doing it right. Here are the best brunch optional choices you should check out whether you live in DC, or if you're just here for a vacation.

1. Farmers, Fishers, Bakers in Georgetown

This place continues to be my mother's favorite brunch place. It is $30 all you can eat, and they have a few different stations with excellent food options. You can make your own omelette or chow down on one they already made, get some chips and guac, head to the carving station, eat some paella, and many more. The servers are also constantly walking about with even more food like Eggs Benedict and sushi. Top of your brunch with one of their desserts from their dessert station as well. Their drinks are a little overpriced and there is no bottomless option, but they are pretty good nonetheless.

You typically need to make a reservation well in advanced. Maybe trying getting on the patio and have a beautiful view of the Georgetown Waterfront.

2. The Sovereign in Georgetown

Relatively new and tucked away on Wisconsin Avenue, The Sovereign is a delicious Belgium place which a nice brunch option that for $10 you can add to any brunch entree two drinks and a Belgium waffle. If you think you are going to be there for a while and have a few drinks, this special is definitely worth it.

3. Alba Osteria in Noma

Come hungry to Alba because for $35, you can all-you-can-eat and drink off their brunch menu. If everyone in your party gets the all-you-can-eat option, you can each get something different and share it. I never make it past two entrees myself, but if you have to pick one, I recommend the egg pizza and white peach bellini.

4. Northside Social in Clarendon, VA

I know I know. This technically isn't in DC, but it is a very short metro or Uber ride to Clarendon, Virginia and you can go to the awesome adult hangout spot that is Northside Social. You can sit out on the patio and grab some coffee and bit to eat, and do what I do, which is marvel at all the dogs that accompany humans to Northside.

5. Kafe Leopold in Georgetown

A cute little Austrian place tucked away in Georgetown, Kafe Leopold has a relatively small brunch menu and you cannot substitute ingredients, but their poached eggs and avocado toast is delicious. They also have an extensive dessert menu, so even if you are not a fan of the brunch options, definitely get a dessert (or two).

6. Mulebone on U St

The sister to Busboys and Poets, Mulebone has a nice bottomless option that for $15, you can get bottomless punch. They have two different ones, and you can switch between the two. Their chicken and waffles is not too bad either. After brunch, go check out some of the artwork and clothes that they have on sale. All proceeds go to local artist and designers.

7. Barcelona on 14th Street

If you like Spanish tapas, Barcelona is the place for you. I recommend grabbing a few different plates and sharing them with your party. They also have a nice Bloody Mary bar where you can make your own Bloody Mary. Stick around until 4 p.m. and they will make a giant paella, and give it to everyone for few dollars. Very Spanish, am I right?

8. Le Diplomate on 14th Street

If you're not in the mood for Spanish food, then head down the street to Le Diplomate. It is a very authentic French restaurant with an amazing brunch option and drinks. I'm a huge fan of their escargot, but don't worry, they have less exotic options as well. Try to get out on the patio and enjoy all the puppy friends on 14th Street.

9. Vinoteca on U Street

This place is your typical brunch spot, but they do have a bottomless option. For $15 you can get bottomless mimosas, and I recommend trying their hibiscus mimosa. Once you're done brunch, head to the back and challenge either your friends or random people to a game of bocce.

10. B Too on Logan Circle

Last, but certainly not least is B Too. Another Belgian place, B Too has a delicious Lobster Bisque which is perfect for a winter day in D.C. I made the trek in the snow to B Too and ordered the bisque and it warmed my soul. You can also get their Belgium Waffles which are very authentic. 10/10 would recommend.

Well, there you have it. Ten new brunch spots that you have to try while in D.C. It's never to early to make your reservation for brunch!

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.
