We all have friends that we consider the fam. Whether it's partying all night or working all day together, the fam doesn't get much better than this. So, here's 10 benefits of having a close-knit fam.

1. Socialization

Let's face it! In a small town, you don't do much except work and gossip about your neighbor. So, you live for the time spent socializing with the fam.

2. Laughter is the best medicine

Whenever someone in the fam is feeling down, you make arrangements to get together so that they don't have to be alone. No matter how down you are, the fam will always make you laugh by telling old stories from the past or plotting the death of the one who hurt you. After all, laughter is the best medicine.

3. You don't feel excluded because everyone's single

Have you ever felt like you're the only one in the group of friends who's single? While everyone's making out with their other half, you just sit in your chair feeling lonely as ever. But the fam never leaves you feeling that way because you're usually all single and not ready to mingle.

4. Free spirited

Adventure is the fam's middle name. You're always finding something to do together whether it's stepping into a haunted house or trying to go zip lining in the middle of the night.

5. You look out for each other

That phone call at 3 a.m. in the morning isn't your parents, it's the fam making sure you got home safe and another one in the morning to make sure you're up in time for work.

6. They make you live life

Small town people don't get to live life too exciting, but getting with the fam is always a good time. When ever you get together, you know that life doesn't get much better than this.

7. Makes you look forward to the time spent

The time the fam spends together is the best time of your life. The highlight of the week is getting to go spend it with them.

8. You are excepted

No judgement or condemnation is allowed. No matter what you do or how far you come from falling of the edge of the cliff, the fam will always except you and your craziness or stupidity.

9. You are family

Fam is fam. You might not be blood related, but you're pretty damn close.

10. It's always a good time

Whatever the fam does, it's always going to be a good time. From picking popcorn to sitting in a camper chatting, time spent with the fam never disappoints. Because you don't count the hours, you make the hours count!

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
