1. Southern Hospitality
No matter where you live, you are taught to be kind and welcoming to everyone. The first words most children speak are "yes and no ma'am." You learn to speak with manners and respect those older than you. The comfort in a southern home is incomparable.
2. Country Music
Even though at first the genre may seem annoying, everyone who grows up in the south develops a love for country music. And it's not just the typical "listen to country only in the summertime"- it's constantly being played. Country music never fails to brighten your mood.
3. SEC Football
There's nothing quite like this football conference. So many rivalries but great traditions that exist in every college. You either love the Crimson Tide or you despise them, there's no in between.
4. Beach
No matter which state you live in, you are always close to a beach. You don't ever need to plan a vacation.
5. Always Outside
Southern kids only play outside. The word "inside" wasn't in my vocabulary. You knew all your neighbors on the cul-de-sac. The squad always rolled together.
6. Snow
School would get canceled when there was only a centimeter of snow on the ground.
7. Y'all is exceptable
Despite getting weird looks up north, saying "y'all" is not weird, but eh norm. A much easier form of saying "you all."
8. Nicely Dressed
There's a certain dress code for boys from the south. It distinguishes them from the rest of the population. If one is not wearing a southern brand, they are a disgrace. In regards to football games, dressing up is the only acceptable way of entering.
9. History
Whether you want to or not, you are brainwashed with the history about the state you live in. Even though it does not seem important at the time, later on in life you learn to appreciate the knowledge.
10. Fast Food Restaurants
Nothing compares to the delicious Zaxby's, Whataburger, and Waffle House. If you do not have these in your state, you're really missing out.
