Have you ever woke up, stepped out of bed, looked in the mirror, and wondered "what am I doing?" I think we all have at some point or another. Whether you want to get out of a situation you don't like or just feel better about yourself in general, these 10 tips will help you in the long run.

1. Stay Positive.

A good mood and positive outlook on life goes very far. When you constantly worry about what could go wrong, you'll put too much pressure on yourself to be perfect. Even the smartest and brightest of people go through failures; it's normal. Look at failures as lessons and grow from them.

2. Don't Take The Things You Have For Granted.

The most valuable possessions we have aren't the material things we save up for and buy in one go. The most valuable things we have are the things we get for free: our health, our minds, our bodies, our families, and our relationships with others.

Too many people fall into the trap of always wanting the latest and greatest designer clothes, luxury cars, or expensive gadgets. Until we all get over our insatiable desires for unnecessary, replaceable things, we can never truly appreciate what we already have.

3. Don't Gossip.

When you say bad things about people, it makes you look bad. Don't do it.

4. Get Over Fear Of Embarrassment.

It's okay to get rejected or make a fool of yourself. The sooner you get over it, the better. Too many people stay away from life-changing situations altogether just to avoid embarrassment. Don't be afraid; put your foot down and say what you need to say or do what you need to do. Don't worry about what other people think.

5. Accept Your Flaws.

You don't have to be the smartest, prettiest, or most talented person out there to have a good life and be happy. Learn to love and accept every ounce of who you are.

6. Let Go Of The Toxic People In Your Life.

If there are people keeping you down, it is best to distance yourself from them if you can. Don't let anyone walk all over you or treat you poorly. Stand up for yourself.

7. Learn To Forgive and Forget.

The longer you dwell on the mistakes of others and hold grudges, the more miserable you will be. Forgiveness is hard sometimes, but it pays off in the end.

8. Believe In Yourself.

If you want to change your life, you first have to change your attitude. Stop saying "I can't." If you want things to change, you have to change the way you feel about it.

9. Don't Conform With What Other People Are Doing.

You're unique in your own way, and it's okay to act like it. You don't have to listen to Drake just because everyone else is listening to Drake. Do the things that will help you become the happier, healthier person you want to be.

10. Speak Less, Listen More.

Be genuinely invested in what other people have to say and remember the details. People who are great listeners are generally more likable than people who just wait to talk over everyone.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies.
