10 Beautiful Pictures Of West Virginia University's Downtown Campus

West Virginia University has been my home for three years, and every spring I feel myself falling in love with the gorgeous Downtown Campus. There are so many colors; the tulips and trees are in bloom, the grass is green and vibrant, and the sky is blue as the water in Waikiki Beach. I feel very lucky to be able to experience this gorgeous campus every day, so here are some pictures to show how amazing it really is.

First, I’m going to show pictures of the picturesque buildings…

1. Woodburn Hall, obviously.

If you are Instagram friends with anyone who attends WVU, there is a pretty good chance that you have seen Woodburn a couple of times, with good reason. Woodburn is breathtaking and creates the perfect backdrop for graduation photos, orientation photos, and everything-in-between-photos.

2. The life sciences building

Wow. I’m speechless, and I took this picture. The only thing better than the LSB surrounded by flowers is the LSB silhouetted by the sunset.

3. The Purinton House

I can’t decide if the bright pink blossoms are what make the Purinton House so elegant, or if the columns, or the wrap-around porches. This house is the house that Ryan Gosling built in The Notebook, but 10x chicer.

4. The Mountainlair

The Mountainlair is an important part of WVU students’ lives; it provides the students with an easy way to get coffee, snacks, scantrons, Chick-Fil-A, and keeps us up with current events pertaining to the university. It is also one of the loveliest buildings on campus.

5. Not a building but… The Eternal Mountaineer Statue

Let’s go… MOUNTAINEERS!

And now I will give pictures of the most vibrant fauna on campus.

6. The Tulips

The tulips are scattered throughout the campus, and make WVU very cheery and bright and colorful. Everyone’s spirits are lifted when the tulips are planted.

7. Purple blossoms by The Life Sciences Building

Live up the hill from the LSB and when I make the turn to walk onto campus, I can’t help but smile when I walk past these trees. They make you want to build flower crowns and twirl in the grass to Fleetwood Mac songs.

8. More purple blossoms…

Like a lavender catwalk.

9. This perfect napping-tree

Imagine drinking a glass of sweet iced tea and dozing off under this tree. The bright green limbs cover you and you can feel the breeze on your face. I can see Zelda Fitzgerald smoking a cigarette and writing under this tree. Perfect for a quick snooze between classes.

10. Pink blossoms beside Stewart Hall

if it wasn't for Woodburn, Stewart Hall would arguably be the most beautiful building on WVU's Downtown Campus. And it looks even more beautiful surrounded by these pink, puffy clouds.

Summer: a time (usually) free from school work and a time to relax with your friends and family. Maybe you go on a vacation or maybe you work all summer, but the time off really does help. When you're in college you become super close with so many people it's hard to think that you won't see many of them for three months. But, then you get that text saying, "Hey, clear your schedule next weekend, I'm coming up" and you begin to flip out. Here are the emotions you go through as your best friend makes her trip to your house.

Syllabus Week As Told By Kourtney Kardashian

Feeling Lost During Syllabus Week? You're Not Alone!

Kourtney Kardashian

Winter break is over, we're all back at our respective colleges, and the first week of classes is underway. This is a little bit how that week tends to go.

The professor starts to go over something more than the syllabus

You get homework assigned on the first day of class

There are multiple group projects on the syllabus

You learn attendance is mandatory and will be taken every class

Professor starts chatting about their personal life and what inspired them to teach this class

Participation is mandatory and you have to play "icebreaker games"

Everybody is going out because its 'syllabus week' but you're laying in bed watching Grey's Anatomy

Looking outside anytime past 8 PM every night of this week

Nobody actually has any idea what's happening this entire week

Syllabus week is over and you realize you actually have to try now...or not

Now it's time to get back into the REAL swing of things. Second semester is really here and we all have to deal with it.

panera bread

Whether you specialized in ringing people up or preparing the food, if you worked at Panera Bread it holds a special place in your heart. Here are some signs that you worked at Panera in high school.

1. You own so many pairs of khaki pants you don’t even know what to do with them

Definitely the worst part about working at Panera was the uniform and having someone cute come in. Please don’t look at me in my hat.

7 Ways to Make Your Language More Transgender and Nonbinary Inclusive

With more people becoming aware of transgender and non-binary people, there have been a lot of questions circulating online and elsewhere about how to be more inclusive. Language is very important in making a space safer for trans and non-binary individuals. With language, there is an established and built-in measure of whether a place could be safe or unsafe. If the wrong language is used, the place is unsafe and shows a lack of education on trans and non-binary issues. With the right language and education, there can be more safe spaces for trans and non-binary people to exist without feeling the need to hide their identities or feel threatened for merely existing.
